Should be, but he will be injured before the next squad is announced in March.

Wayne Rooney on the Calvert-Lewin section has just said "Ollie Watkins is still, for me, the one behind Harry Kane".

Which is interesting.

What's more interesting is that Smirker's heading to Currys tomorrow to buy a new telly.

It was clearly about Smirker as he mentioned 10 men.

It was, and there’s only one person in the entire history of this forum that doesn’t understand what an assist is and why they matter.

Why are you lying?

If I say "Player 1 has only got 2 goals in 20 games. I think his goalscoring is bad"

And you say "But he's also got 4 assists"

I am going to disregard the assists because I am talking about goals.

That is what this Watkins debacle started as.

You are carrying it on every time you lie and claim I said outright that assists don't matter.

That is being obtuse beyond reason. We debate whether Ollie is a good player or not. You deliberately narrowed that debate to whether he’s a good goal scorer or not, so that you could ignore his contributions to the team beyond goals. Because his contribution to the team, beyond goals, is important for our results, and is a part of how we rate him as a player. Most people think that’s obvious.

Even in the narrow debate about whether he’s a decent/good goal scorer or not, you underplay his goal scoring. That’s fine, you’re entitled to your opinion on his goal scoring.

He’s been shit this year, not many people have argued otherwise. Many people, however, try and provide some counterpoints and try to bring up some of the (albeit very few) good things he’s done this year. That’s a natural reaction to the constant shit posting, and brings a welcome balance to counter your vendetta. There’d be far fewer people clutching at those straws of positivity if it weren’t for your manner of posting on this topic, which is ironic given how you’ve often tried to bring positivity to this forum in the past.

At this point, the debate about Watkins is almost secondary to the manner and content of your posts about him. If you want to ignore that and continue as is, that is your right too, but it’s diminishing the value and joy people get from this forum, or at least, this thread.

Ha ha! It will be a tricky walk there with his foot stuck in the screen.

We need another genuine option at CF.  Ollie would be on the bench if we had one. He’s a painful watch at the moment.

Unai said after the game that we cannot just rely on Rodger’s to keep scoring the goals for us, we need other players to start to score

Pressure is on both Watkins and Malen to get amongst the goals or we may see another attacking loan signing arriving in January

I'll be surprised if we don't at least try to bring a striker in.

I am sure we will.
And then we get to the big quest of who.
We have just seen what £65 million gets in Sesko, he was actually worse than Watkins.

My guess is it will be a relatively unknown younger option. I'm not sure how much cash we'll be allowed to splash.

The look on his face reminds me of a boxer that has took one or two fights too many. He knows what he wants to do, just can't do it anymore. It's really sad, and it's hard to remember another instance of another player who has lost form so dramatically over the course of a season. Deli Ali maybe? Hope he can turn it around, but it is not looking promising.

Given all he's given to the team for several seasons now, is it too much to ask that people refrain from calling him 'shit' (and even 'Blues'), even if he's not now playing well?

My understanding is that he hasn’t been with us on a voluntary basis and is in fact rather well remunerated.

I feel for Watkins in that we don't play wingers so no crosses into the box, but, he seems incapable of controlling the ball, he went through a similar patch a couple of seasons ago and now it's returned.
