So we've moved on from "we're not creating anything" to "he's injured and needs a rest".

The amount of excuses for this player is genuinely hilarious. He's not nursing an injury. He's been terrible for 18 months.

The sooner he's sold and replaced the sooner we can progress.

I'd like to see Ivan Toney come in.

“Terrible for 18 months”, which covers the period of last season where he got 16 goals and 8 assists, sure.

More importantly, you haven’t a clue whether he has an injury - but you appear to be so wrapped up in your, well, strange take, that I think you’d rather he was rubbish than there be an explanation that might mean he could get back to his best. Weird.

Am I seriously supposed to be impressed by 16 goals in 54 games? That's about the same strike rate as Timo Werner when he flopped at Chelsea.

Can we just not go through this bullshit pantomime again, it's so fucking tedious.

Three hatricks in the next 3 games should do it. Reminds me of a long time poster on here who hated Alan Hutton so much he pissed off for a few months after Hutton scored against the Rags. Truth be told he's never been the same since.

You do realise though that’s not poor form across 18 months though? That’s why performance is typically measured season to season. He did well last season, his goal scoring and assists reflect that. He hasn’t done well this season.

Smirker accepts he played well in 2023-24 when he scored 19 league goals and 16 assists in 37 games but was shit when he scored 16 goals and 8 assists in 38 games. However it doesn't tell the full story as he played a lot less minutes in those 38 games then the 37. (2023-24 = 3,226mins, 2024-25 = 2,610) When you look at goals per minute he was actually more proficient last season when he was "shit" compared to his good season.

But why look at things those ways when you have been rubbishing Watkins for so long. At least Smirker has been really happy this season when he can actually point at Watkins bad stats because who wants Villa to do well when you can be proved right.

Given some of the stuff posted in response to me for criticising his goalscoring, I think I'm entitled to laugh a bit when I've been proven right, yes.

He got 17 in 54 last season btw.

Of course being proven "right" means Villa might not do as well, but who needs that when you are "right".

Indeed, feels like somewhere down the line there’s been a loss of perspective because of having a weird hatred of a Villa player.

At least we're admitting I was right all along.

And Villa are doing well too!

Buzzing.

We are not stating you are right all along at all.We are stating his form has dropped to levels where the forums stopped clock has finally told the right time. However we can still see he is working hard for the team and dragging players out of position, as saturday winning a corner well which has meant we are scoring still. Most of us are also hoping he recovers his form into the levels you didn't deem good enough because we could be on a title run if that happens.

Smirker has got to be the biggest bore we've had on years for years.
