He instantly looked revitalised once he'd scored. Just busier, backing in, holding it up more, working the channel.

Nice instinctive finish, he’s much better when he doesn’t have too much time to think about it.

I'd rank it as one of his best goals ever for us. I've watched so many times and I still struggle to see how he lifted it so high so close on goal yet managed to tuck it in just under the bar. A bit like his goal for England in the semi final, you're left gobsmacked because it's the last thing you'd expect from him. Not disrespecting him, there's very few in the PL who could score those two goals.

You could be right about the less time to think the better but what I do know is he's by far a better player when he's facing the goal. Shame it took Unai so long to recall.

I think the loss against that Manchester side deflated most of the players, should never happened. Still can't quite believe that performance myself.

Think I've mentioned it in here before, but I had such a paddy in the pub over the Rogers disallowed goal. Missus wasn't happy and I don't usually lose my rag like that, but you could tell how important that moment was with PSR looming. Arguably set us back years, or stopped us entirely. Time will tell.

I dread to think how our form would have transpired in the CL.

Depends if some of the last 5 games was down to players being miffed on what happened over the summer with CL to look forward to. I'm not sure how much difference it would have made myself. We might have got better players cheaper with CL on the horizon, but we also still needed to be positive on our transfer fee even with the CL money coming in.

Of course the missing extra money might mean we have to pull the purse strings even tighter next season although if we meet finances, we don't need to be transfer positive.

Meat finances are problematical these days. Security locked in supermarkets.

We have had to be frugal to save our bacon.

or you react like Buendia - you use the lack of CL money and not being sold/replaced as a spring-board to get back into the team
