Why the personal attacks? Just make the point without attacking the person. It's not hard.

It would be great if people could do that.

Read the first bit again.

Absolutely not.

Mate, I honestly recommend a really long lie down, and whatever drugs it takes to make you less of a monomaniacal bore.

Don't talk to me like I'm Footy. Disagree with my opinion but don't think you're gonna try and bully me off here.

Then stop acting like it! Good grief, 'bullying', because you've murdered this thread and it's being pointed out to you?

Here's how it goes. With a level of glee that makes me think of Nigel Farage after an immigrant does a crime, you post something snarky in this thread. Some poor innocent thinks Wow, that's harsh, I disagree. You bring out literally the same statistics as you do 29 times a day to prove that a goal record better than 1 in 3 is, in fact, shit. Some other poor bastard chimes in to say that Watkins' goals record is decent and when combined to his all-round game makes him a considerable player. You say - like someone frozen from the 50s waking up in 2025 - that the all-round game doesn't count. And you do this 29 times a day.

So what do we conclude? Either a) you're a troll, or b) you have a degree of monomaniacal obsession that, honestly, you should seek help for. Everyone's seen your damn opinion, everyone knows your selective view of the stats, everyone knows exactly what you think in unbelievable detail, and yet you insist on ruining this thread. I'm asking kindly - please, stop.

He's lost a yard of pace and his willingness to work hard. The latter he can rediscover, but he's not worth his place in the side at the moment. Malen is no better down the middle. I would play Guessand there for a few games.

It's not just that, he's seemingly incapable of bringing a ball under control or holding off an opponent as well.

His performances have been dismal on the whole since the Euro's last year, I was a big fan of him in the past but I'm pig sick of watching him turn out for us now. I'm not sure when it turned for me but whining like a titty baby about not starting when he'd not deserved it was probably the last straw.

Our best form came with Rashford, despite being signed to play on the left, playing down the middle and actually giving us a player who could hold the ball and run in behind. The difference was massive.

The thing about Rashford is that he's a proper superstar when on it and his previous club didn't realise it. We did well to get him for the latter part of last season and what he did was pretty damn good.

Watkins has been great for us, there's no question. If I was him I'd have been pissed off at the thought of Danny Ings and then some jumper up little shit (Duran) coming in.

Rashford is a different kettle of fish though. I'm not surprised Watkins was pissed off being on the bench for PSG, and I'm glad he was.

That's generally how forums work Monty. People disagree and then other people reply to them, then an exchange takes place.

That's the second post in a row you've used the word 'monomaniacal' btw, did you recently learn it? Everyone look at Monty and his new toy  8)

Not the same exchange over and over again - that's not conversation, that's pub bore territory. But this is another loop of doom man, something you seem to have a penchant for, and if it's OK I'm just going to mute you.

And by the way, people might think a lot of shit about me and that's fine, but I don't think anyone's ever thought of me as lacking a vocabulary!

I suppose people are free to post about what and where they want but out of Smirker's last 30 posts, 24 have been about Ollie. Just an observation but I get the feeling he's enjoying the attention. It's all very odd.

In his time at Villa he has a goal scoring record of a goal every 2.5 games or so - that is good.

You then add the assists, and his record as a forward is top end. Only the absolute elite are above him.

It depends how you look at it, last season he had something like 84 shots at goal which resulted in 16 league goals. Credit as always for getting into the position to score but most shots were most likely straight at the keeper. As a lone striker it's not great.

I don't recall many assists previously but massive credit for last season. For one, it demonstrates he has more to his game than just shooting and/or goals. In my eyes that makes him a more valueable player.

In the previous 5 PL seasons Ollie has 75 goals and 34 assists. 15 goals and 7 assists on average every season are very good for a striker over that long of a period.

Despite how often his misses are mentioned, top end strikers in the PL run at 20-25% conversion rate over a season. Even the likes of Salah, Kane and Haaland are rarely above that come the end of a season. Ollie is usually around the 20% mark.

Yup however you cut it he’s a very high performing Premier League forward - who is currently in poor form, along with anyone else.

What I think tends to happen with this stuff is people watch their team, either exclusively or much more than anyone else. They agonise over every miss, because it’s frustrating when it happens, and through not watching other strikers as forensically they assume others don’t do it. Other top strikers actually miss loads too, as the stats bear out.

There are elite forwards like Haaland, Salah - but there aren’t many. Ollie is the rung below, but he’s still very good.

I think his very poor touch frustrates a lot of fans, of course if his touch was better his assists and strike rate would be. But his inability to link the play and fail to make very simple passes is very irritating.
