He’s going to leave eventually. I think it will be this summer as his value will continue to go down with age. So we will need to find an Ollie replacement (almost impossible to do) or find a new player requiring a new way to play. Ollie’s work rate is crazy. Sure he might not score as many as we’d like but nobody can ever question is desire and effort.

I rate Watkins very highly and feel he would be difficult to replace. He is not perfect by any means but we would certainly miss him.
If he does move then I wish him all the best.
I accept his finishing is not always to the same standard as that excellent strike for England v Holland at Euro 2024 but none the less he has been a good servant to Villa.

He'll most likely end this season having missed 5 league games in 5 seasons, and one of those was through a ban. So 4 through injury. Rashford is likely to miss the same number in three and a half months with us. But it will be easy to replace his goals, assists. work rate and rarely being unavailable.
Damn right, and yet people believe he'd be easy to replace "without too much hassle". Really!
In the EPL, the only gettable equivalent player is Delap. We need CL football to be in with a chance to get him, and even then others are circling with intent. I do not have extensive knowledge of footballers outside the English leagues but anyone offering Watkins' fitness levels, durability and overall contribution to our game will surely be a rare breed.
What we've lacked this season is not Watkins' 'missing goals' but someone alongside him in the team who can set goals up and exploit his own  assists (last season we had a rare-Bailey and Diaby as those players).

Hasn't Rogers (and Marcus Aurelius Asensio II) done that ?

I'd say, to a certain extent. And, Watkins has - despite his detractors - had another decent season (15 goals and 7 assists in the EPL as of today at 5pm).

Congratulations, Ollie. Gabby binned off to being what he was: an expensive waste of space in the worst Villa team of the twenty-first century.

I I'd wager that he won't break Gabby's record between now and end of season and will head to those tarquin twats in the summer level with Gabby.
And yet in the very next game...

A modern day Villan with an excellent 5 year contribution.

Love him to get a ton with us

His work ethic off the ball is something that is difficult to instil into people, and I think on the whole people may be underestimating this. Will be an interesting summer.

He might come across as a grumpy sod now and again but you can also see how much his teammates appreciate his work ethic and dedication.

Well done our kid. Now get to 100 by May 2026 after signing a well-deserved new contract this summer.
