I can only hope he was out on the lash last night as that's the best excuse for today's performance.

Worst he's been in a Villa shirt.

I'm still unconvinced by him. I don't think I'm judging him on his Spice Boy look, he just seems to lack awareness on the pitch at times.

Is he really best-suited to playing full-back? Maybe how he made his name at Forest - a player who bombed forwards and got goals with less defensive responsibility, is where he thrives. And I can't see him playing there for us. He needs proper competition for his place. And if Smith doesn't rate Guilbert, it should be someone else but not a CB who can 'do a job' at RB like Konsa or Tuanzebe. A 28 year-old Elmo equivalent will do.

Horror display. Along with Targett. Will know he has to be a fuck load better next week.

I found it quite odd how every time he made a run forward and got the ball in an advanced position, he turned inside and passed it centrally every single time. Didn’t even pretend to consider going along the byline or linking up with the winger. Not sure if was the way we set up that meant he was isolated... hard to tell these things on a dodgy stream.

Well personally I felt he was below bar and particularly poor in defending.
He also got booked.
Going forward he can be ok and has his long throw but defensively he seems a struggle today

Me too but it always seems to be a battle with Matty. A bit more composure would go a long way.

Edit: Replying to Rich.

I don't want Konsa to play at right back, but he was better than both Freddie and Cash when he played there last season.  I'm also not convinced by Cash.

I prefer Guilbert as right wing back though maybe Young takes that role if we are to say play 3 at the back Vs Chelsea in our next league match
