Quote from: AVH87 on June 22, 2020, 09:37:41 AMYou have been keen for Smith to go at a few points this season, as have I, but if the squad is just not good enough, do you think it would have made enough difference?I suppose it's impossible to say without knowing who'd have come in, but a better January in the transfer window would have helped, and an extra 3 or 4 points now and we'd be out of the bottom three at least. I can't see that that would have been impossible given a bit of organisation and motivation, neither of which we get from Smith.

We sent out a message to everyone, us included, that we were there for the taking, lost two key players for the season and did shit all to correct it.

It's difficult to imagine a new manager getting less out the squad than Dean has.
Its a case of the Smith being too advanced in knowledge to get it through to simple footballers!I imagine half of them don't listen to what he's going on about or at least don't understand about where to be on the pitch, how to play and what to do. Clearly its a case of the Smith being too advanced in knowledge to get it through to simple footballers!A new manager may bring some light relief as I think the players aren't able to think to Smith's ability. He's been homeschooling them but the pupils aren't interested .It's a shame as Deano wants to coach and develop and has his beliefs. The simple matter seems to be a cry for basics and not go overload these overpaid footballers with too much information. The whole go out there and play ethos. The irony isn't lost Bruce is up next. And Bruce Newcastle has a big say in the relegation battle having to play all the teams apart from Norwich. From all Smith's tactical knowledge he's got to find a way for the players to understand! And get them to buy into what he wants.Maybe they have to be incentive with a bonus now because not many seem to be playing Smith's way.

Two players semi-retired and a third that couldn't get a game in the division below.

On the pitch it was the best month of the season.
But that's not what you said. You said we had had done 'shit all' when in reality we did. You also didn't mention Samatta.

You also didn't mention Samatta.I think you're possibly getting bogged down in semantics a little bit. Whether we did enough or not, the players we brought in haven't been good enough, and haven't done anything to improve results and our league standing.
