Well the semi final is in a competition that has almost been reduced to a footnote, with most first team players hoovered up by the Hundred.

The Gloucestershire game was an odd one, looked in complete control at the half way stage but quite a few brain fades from the batsmen.

I absolutely love long form cricket, and can take or leave the shorter stuff. I really wish we could focus our resources on that as it seems to be neglected by the club.

Two bonus points, three to go.

Couple of wickets this morning & 300 runs will do the job just nicely

Or a last hurrah from one of my favourite county cricketers Joe Leach to run through Lancs

Only two bonus bowling points for Bears, three for Lancashire. Should still be safe as they need a massive score and are already two down, but just to be on safe side, updated scenarios, as follows. Bears safe if:

Bears avoid defeat

Lancs fail to win

Bears score at least 350 off first 110 overs

Bears score at least 300 and Lancs score fewer than 450 off first 110 overs

Bears score at least 250 and Lancs score fewer than 400 off first 110 overs

Lancs score fewer than 350 off first 110 overs.

350 looks a hell of a task on that pitch at New Road so I think we're very close to safety, Bears batting out 3-4 sessions and seeing it to an inevitable draw would be better though.

Lancs 93-7….they need to stop forgetting to play a shot to straight balls

Well done Sam Hain, 150 not out, to secure a draw at Nottingham before the weather closed in.

I'm reading this morning that Hampshire have become the first county club to have foreign owners. The owners of Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals have paid £120m for a majority control of the club.

I'm expecting it won't be long before the Saudis will move into cricket, they seem to have taken over nearly every other sport!

Less than subtle hint in the Grauniad that Robinson may be leaving the Bears this winter.

No comment on who his potential replacement might be.

Fateh Singh signing for the Pears for three years to strengthen the spin department.  Hoping for a quality overseas all rounder and a middle order batsman too.

I’d like the overseas to be a middle order batsman…we are all searching for a Bedingham type of signing so hopefully find that.  Smith going to Surrey is a blow and we’ll see how Leach retiring affects it but Taylor / Waite / Allison / Dolly and Singh are handy batsmen

Burgess has retired so Bears will be looking for a wicketkeeper. Norwell has retired so Bears will be looking for work for the physio.
