Apparently Mo is due to announce his retirement from county cricket…not a huge shock I’d guess as other than Blast he didn’t play any cricket for us in his last 2/3 years and I’d assume very similar since he moved back?

The way he performed for the Bears last season he was as good as retired anyway

Yup. Over the past two seasons when he returned from England white ball duties he made the Bears worse. Thanks Moeen but please retire from all forms.

Very quiet on the signings front for the Pears this year.  Disappointing.

Would have liked one more batsman at least with Jones and Hose not yet justifying faith in red ball cricket….think Singh & Allison will be good signings though

New season starts on Friday with the Bears home to Sussex and the Pears away to Somerset.

For the bears the big change is at coach with Westwood stepping up, hopefully he can have us looking better than the disappointing campaign last year.

Bears had a very good start bowling but it's gone a bit flat now.

Sussex currently 182/4

Taz Ali is looking a very good prospect.

Could be another long season in the 4 day stuff for the Bears.

Nothing really about the seam attack.

Poor first day with the bat for the Pears…as expected the openers got a few but the middle order was weak again.  Still boggles my mind that Hose was given a new contract…hope he comes good but his record against the red ball for us is v poor

No OHD or Rushworth here, which is a big loss. I think they'll be very disappointed with Fernando so far though. Booth has been poor as well but we've seen he can deliver better than this.

Wonder if anyone has a thousand runs by the end of April :-)

What a pathetic declaration by Sussex, would be pissed off if I was a fan. The points system that awards eight points for a draw is a load of shite, it just encourages boring captaincy and is dreadful for fans. But cricket doesn't care about them.

Indeed, I'd watched most of this game but when they carried on batting after 300 it was obvious that it was a draw.
