Lintott was the key factor in this win.

Why are the teams only playing 14 matches in the group stage of the T20's? Surely they should be playing 16 matches meaning that you play everyone home and away?

Say for instance one team plays the worst team in the group twice and another team only plays them once. The team who plays them once misses out on qualifying for the quarters by a point to the team that played the dregs twice. That sort of system can't be fair

The more they meddle with the calendar the more daft it seems to become. For example, they keep reducing the number of county championship matches, but despite having an even number of teams in each division and there being hardly any touring games any more they don't all play at once. And in division one there are 10 teams and they each play 14 matches, so the problem you outline applies much more clearly (given the league table is the be all and end all at tiop and bottom rather than just a means of arriving at quarter finalists).

Yes 14 is totally silly and, as you alluded to, slightly demeans the competition but it's due to making room in the calendar for other stuff. The group matches end on 2 July and QF matches are on 6/7 July.

Fantastic win for the Bears, pity the Sky cameras were at Old Trafford showing no cricket for a game that no-one outside of Lancashire or Yorkshire is interested in yet they show both Roses games every year. Must be the creeping Manchester influence.
Roses matches were always televised in the 70s

How true. I did a You Gov survey recently. There was a question about the capital cities of the UK. The possible answers included the obvious ones like London, but also Glasgow and Manchester. I was not impressed.

Yes I remember that but Sky show the Roses matches like they show perceived “big six” football matches. Totally unnecessary

Bears to play either Essex or Kent on Thursday. Would prefer it to be Essex as they've lost 4 of the last 5 in the competition. Kent have to chase down a big score at Somerset to sneak in

Worcs to play Hants away….thought it was Somerset away at one point, our pace attack on that postage stamp would have been a mare…not seen anything of the south group but assume Hants are strong so not anticipating finals day :-)

Seems Tongue is going to Notts not Lancs now grrrrrrr….could have stomached Lancs as at least they try and develop home grown players, Notts don’t bother because they know Leicester / Derby / Norhants and laterly Worcs are there to do the hard work for them…they are also batting their eyelids at Pennington

On the subject of signings from Worcester, I was thinking about Moeen Ali's Bears involvement.  He won't play in Thursday, but should be available should the Bears make it to Finals Day.  He will play in The Hundred so won't be in the 50 over side.

All in all, he'll probably have played 4/5 games max for the Bears this season?

That is roughly the same as his last couple of seasons with us, a few Blast games and pretty much zero red ball - saying that I think when you signed him it was unlikely he’d go back to test cricket and was 50/50 that he’d still be in all one day squads by now.

Yep, the injury to Leach has had a big impact.
