The fact we asked for the 3 years losses to be increased by £30m was evidence that was the size of the gap we needed to fill. We may have been much closer to the target had we not needed to bring in Lenglet & Zaniolo as emergency cover.

We'll never know, but I suspect Luiz was going to leave this summer regardless.

When you see Elliott Anderson going to Forest for £35m it does make you look at this deal a bit. Hope Enzo and Illing-Junior are good!

It's a worry, if so we've really messed up with Dougie's valuation.

Good luck to the lad - I liked him for most of the time and felt that he became integral to our playing style.
We move on.

Not really. Arbitrary figures that mean low valuations on the two players incoming, meaning lower amortisation costs on our books going forward, and (possibly) less money for Man City, if that clause really exists.

Basically, swings and roundabouts engineered to suit our accounts.

Yeah, watch us go and get drawn against them now.
At least we should get a plethora of free kicks on the edge of their box  ;)

Or that the fundamentals of the player valuation structure are evolving in response to FFP.

Last year it was all about €100m midfielders. Not this year, it would seem.

Thanks and all the best Dougie, I enjoyed watching you in a Villa shirt.

Crikey! The Pravda announcements (Twitter, website) are perfunctory. Was it want-away Luiz rather than financial obligation?

Six of one half a dozen of the other in my view. If VinnieC is to be believed he was stalling on a contract offer but we maybe needed to fill a small PSR hole so all tings being equal it suited all parties. I think he’s a loss but I’m totally over getting upset about players leaving these days so we move on.

The only one i'd regret losing now is Martinez. Possibly McGinn too.

There was a later video uploaded with all his "best bits" with Pravda kissing him goodbye.

I'll miss him, we'll miss him, but we'll be fine in the long run.  I thank him for everything, I've loved watching him grow with us.  He should have been nearer £80m for me, but guess circumstances and all that!

I enjoyed watching him, a fine player on his day. He hit some of the best passes I've seen since Sid Cowans, I can pay him no higher compliment. Good luck.

It shows what an utter crock of shit PSR is when you have to sell a key player and asset for far lower than market value. That sounds like the total opposite of anything to do with profit or sustainability.

How is it below market value ? A lump of cash plus 2 decent players ? Sounds about right .
