He’s absolutely superb in getting out of tight spaces, receiving and moving the ball with a high level of confidence and competence. He’s precisely the type of player Emery would look to buy..

...but couldn't afford.

quite. When you consider what Rice just went for, I'm struggling to find where the drop off is to Doug. And I would make the case he's every bit as good if not better in a number of areas. Rice is very good. Doug is better.

Rice is physically stronger and more athletic but Luiz has better feet. Gets turned on the ball quicker and keeps it better. Luiz I thought totally outplayed Rice at that running track last season too.

Gregg Evans theory Douglas Luiz, South Americans and Coutinho

"Having re-signed in October, Luiz has grown in value on the back of an impressive 2022-23 campaign where he was voted Villa player of the year by both the fans and his team-mates. Luiz stuck around at Villa because he felt very much at home alongside a growing South American contingent — which Coutinho still remains very much at the core of despite a lack of playing time in the second half of last season. Of course, there were other factors involved but if Villa do ever sell Luiz, the money they receive for him will go some way to making up for the huge investment made in Coutinho"

He's doing a roaring trade in fan fiction lately. Why's he still hanging around when he's already been replaced?

Press speculation regarding Klopp making a late bid of £60m for Dougie?? Can we dismiss this or is there a release clause lurking? This is the last thing we need if there's any substance to it.....!

Liverpool don't need a player like Luiz, they have McAlistair who plays that role. They need someone like Kamara. But they can get lost.

This is just press bullshit or designed to distrupt us before the game.

My only "worry" with the Liverpool links is the speculation around Salah going to Saudi, which would change things in terms of their shopping lists.

By the time trees are devoid of leaves the ****** will be linking all of our first XI to the "big six".

I think this is true - on Football365 (which has gone to shite) - the headline after the Hibs game was something like "Watkins shows Spurs & (Another Sky6 Club I cant remember) what there missing"

Indeed, all look very good signings. I doubt they’re looking to spend big on another and id hope we’re in a space to refuse if they did.

Ok I'm not worried about Luiz signing for Liverpool. Let's see how we do at Anfield.
