Me too, I blame the general trauma of his reign

I think clubs have left it too late to pick off our best players.  Other than Watkins they're all on long contracts and I just think right now the club wouldn't entertain anything other than ridiculous bids to unsettle what Emery is building.  I don't think we'd even entertain a conversation on Doug.

Even if there was a release clause in Doug's contract, consider the progress we've made since then, i could easily see him being happy to negotiate a new deal. Everything about the trajectory of the team screams progression.

Reports suggesting Spurs will try to sign Dougie??

😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

They couldn't afford his pinkie toe...

Liverpool apparently want Kamara too. I'd take it as the journos finally realising we have players worth having and thus players worth linking with other "bigger" clubs.

Started off by that prick Collymore...

But like Douglas Luiz & Spurs, Liverpool couldn't afford Kamara...

If Arsenal couldn't get him last season, I hardly think total no-marks like spurs are anything to worry about.

Agreed, can't see any player wanting to leave Villa for Spurs atm.

*Apart from Ollie and Dibu, obvs. ::)

Only because Collymore said they should go for him.

Media are talking about Luiz as a replacement for Hojberg though, which is daft. One's part of a double pivot and the other just had his best season playing as an 8.

They've also put his value as low as £25m. You have to just ignore the nonsense that comes from London media.

Talking of release clauses, we should either avoid them completely or do what Sporting have done this month with their new striker from Coventry. Signed him for £20m with a €100m release clause. Who's the daddy! Loons.

Boh, they just see us as exactly like Brighton so assume we'll behave like Brighton. Never mind that the two clubs have basically opposite transfer strategies.

Monchi does have a reputation of selling players when there value is at its highest.

Luiz was previously very close to joining Arsenal.

...at a club where the model was more like Brighton than us, what he did in terms of sales at Sevilla isn't particularly relevant.

Luiz may have been interested but he's signed a new deal since, we're in a far better position than we were at the time and Spurs this summer is nowhere near as good an opportunity as Arsenal were last summer.
