I'm glad it's been overturned, it was a god awful decision that was basically a red card for having the gall to be 6 inches shorter than his opponent.

I don't think it, or the penalty, changed the game but if the heavy rumour that Sawaris snapped after it was given is true then it's a shit decision that will have a massive long-term benefit for us.

Honestly, I know it got lost in the brouhaha around Gerrard but the decisions for the penalty and especially this red were utterly disgraceful. The idea that you VAR a red card into being then, effectively, VAR it out of being, I'm sorry, it's a complete farce.

Var has said to the ref ”you might want to look at this?” Oliver takes a look and thinks, maybe. Gives a red because he has the seed of doubt in his mind. Oliver is at fault. Var is a bit at fault too but it’s Oliver’s call.

But worst of all Mitrovic is a ****** who died there right in front of the watching world.

The sensible approach would be a booking for Luiz for aggression and Mitrovic for simulation.

The sensible approach would be a booking for Luiz for aggression and an Oscar to Mitrovic for simulation.

Both refs involved should be suspended. You need to be certain for a red card, not just make it up.
Exactly this.
And Mitrovic, who feigned injury, partook in simulation, deceived officials, fellow players, fans, and tried to get a fellow professional sent off will receive what kind of sanction?

What did Bamford get for his Oscar winning performance that time?  I can't remember.

What I thought would happen, seeing it live.
I was a lot more pissed off about it seeing it on the highlights when I got home!
Incompetent officials and cheating players seem to get off pretty lightly!

I try to be impartial when it comes to referees but Michael Oliver is the exception. He's a c***. He's got a long list of crimes against Aston Villa and I struggle to understand why as a club we don't insist on refusing to allow him to ref our games. If that's possible, I have no idea.

Logically Mitrovic should be charged with simulation. I’m not holding my breath.

That’s not getting overturned in a million years.

Interesting
