And that is why anti-football  Southgate replaced Mings for a unfit slabhead at the Euros. However well he's playing, his lack of concentration will gift the opposition a goal sooner or later.

I disagree with that. Mings was very good for England at the Euros but Maguire, who is also prone to lapses of concentration,  is much better at bringing the ball out of defence, drawing an opponent and offloading.

Voice over man "It's not that rare."

It’s incredibly rare. Count how many minutes he’s played for us and then count how many of those minutes represent a major mistake. I think you’ll find it’s a very, very low percentage.

Instead of breaking it down into nano seconds, try per game. There's loads.

There really isn’t but you’ve convinced yourself that there is. Nothing I say will convince you otherwise. He’s a PL footballer and England international. If he made the amount of mistakes you are suggesting he wouldn’t be either of those things.

Don't leave us hanging, what's the answer? How many is it per game?

He's made more errors than any other defender since we were promoted.

He’s just said on Twitter….

Timing of the second goal yesterday was a real killer, so I apologise to my teammates and the fans for a crap pass. I actually think we played very well yesterday too, which makes it even more painful.

To be fair, at least he writes this himself rather than the generic stuff the other players put out.

I've just had a look on the premier league stats website and he's made 4 errors leading to goals since we were promoted, one yesterday, one last season and two our first season up. For comparison, Konsa is on 2 over the same amount of time.

And when you look at that entire list of players over the same period of time you see what a completely random stat it is. Mostly GK’s and then players from every position. But some seem to think Mings is an accident waiting to happen yet the numbers simply don’t back them up. And yes, I am sure that there are times he’s made errors where a goal hasn’t been scored, which will also apply to lots of other players. And how many goals has he saved us from in that same span of time; through positioning or last ditch tackles, headers or blocks? More than we have conceded would be my guess.

Mings has been an integral part to us since he’s been here. He’s been superb most of the time and leads us well. Our defence since the restart has been pretty good and he’s a key part of that.

A terrible mistake but if Martinez was in Goal I imagine it might have been different. When you have a 3rd choice Goalkeeper going up against the European Champions you're asking for Trouble.

The decision not to bring in a high profile no.2 Keeper could be hugely damaging to our season,  especially going into the winter months
