High profile goalkeepers, of course, are chomping at the bit to go to mid-table clubs to sit on the bench.

We should have done all we could to keep Tom Heaton and offered him an improved bumper contract . If we want to break into the European spots we need to start acting like contenders

Great of him to apologise, but what about the strikers who didn’t bury their chances.

Seen this repeatedly but it's not the same though, is it. An unforced error, gifting the opposition a goal, against a forward failing to score due to opposition goalie saves.

You could equate a Ronnie Rosenthal-miss by a forward to Ming's mistake Saturday but that is not what we are talking about here.

Saying that Mings makes too many serious mistakes has only just gotten controversial, I think, due to the postings of a right-wing nutter or two.

Exactly. It’s not quite hitting home with some is it?

Buy a top quality goalkeeper who will be happy not to play. Good luck then.

While i'd agree we probably could have done with an experienced reserve in his mid-30's, Steer is 29 this month and it makes no sense having him as 3rd choice 'keeper. And criticising him for apparently not being able to anticipate when Mings is going to fuck-up is a tad harsh.

So you want us to hand out massive contracts to aging players to sit on our bench?  MON, is that you?

We've probably still got Shay Given under contract in a back room somewhere that we could wheel out.

Or we could dig up Con Martin to cover Emi and Tyrone.

Every player makes mistakes. Missed tackles bookings, scuffed shots, over-hit crosses, it's just that in defence they can be more costly.

With what Mings brings to the team, club and society, in leadership, decency, and skill, I'm much happier that he's ours and nobody else's.

I know he played for two international teams but both positions at once might be a bit of a stretch for him these days!

Tyrone is at his best as a no nonsense, ‘hoof it out or up field’, type defender.

The reason errors like yesterday can’t be coached out is because of what is trying to be coached in. Both him and the club will want to develop his ability to make a pass in those positions that will build something, or at least is more likely to get us out of trouble in a way that it isn’t coming straight back.

So - he trains & is coached to try and be a better footballer, and as a result, he starts to think he is, and then he does that.

.....but he gets a pass from me because he’s trying.

No point apologising if you keep doing the same sloppy mistakes 3-4 times a season.

Just cut it out it Of your game
