Voice over man "It's not that rare."

It’s incredibly rare. Count how many minutes he’s played for us and then count how many of those minutes represent a major mistake. I think you’ll find it’s a very, very low percentage.

Instead of breaking it down into nano seconds, try per game. There's loads.

There really isn’t but you’ve convinced yourself that there is. Nothing I say will convince you otherwise. He’s a PL footballer and England international. If he made the amount of mistakes you are suggesting he wouldn’t be either of those things.

I like Mings, but there's some stats here:
https://twitter.com/VillaAnalytics/status/1437110761470504967

Since Aston Villa’s promotion, no Premier League player has made more defensive errors than Tyrone Mings. Topping the charts in his first season and runner up last year.

Mings has made more than twice as many errors as any outfielder in this time and only 1 fewer than Burnley

Although I suspect there are lots of ways this data is produced. For example this tweet has this stat as of March 2021.

https://twitter.com/squawka/status/1368190639872094209?lang=en

And this site has him joint 15th in 2019/2020 with 2 and with 1 in 2020/21. Seems mean across the board though so they might be more strict in what they call an error that leads to a goal.

But that is over 5 seasons, not two.  And obviously not every big mistake leads to a goal, sometimes a keeper like Martinez bails you out.

Yes. Still think Martinez would very likely have got Mings out of gaol on Saturday.

But I can't find stats on defensive errors only to see if the Villa Stats one is correct. When typing "Premier League Players Defensive errors" it only presents "leading to goals" stats in the results.

Pretty damning.

We should have done all we could to keep Tom Heaton and offered him an improved bumper contract . If we want to break into the European spots we need to start acting like contenders

He means their entire team.  Mings has made one less error than Burnleys entire team put together.

But I reiterate I like him and believe he brings more to the team than we lose by his errors.  He would still be my captain and first choice left sided centre half.

Erm, the tweets posted by Chris W from villa analytics twitter doesn't have any links in those tweets or on the profile. Or am I link blind suddenly?

edit: Never mind, spotted it several replies down.

Quite telling Hause was on that list as second that  first season.

Would also have been interesting how many from the restart.
