Freedom of speech, China, fucking hell mate. I would say that being unable to hear contrary opinions without howling in self-pity is a bit more anti-free speech (dare I say snowflakey, even).

Well, I like him as a person and think his public stance on anti-racism is great and to be heartily commended. I also think he's not half as good a player as he thinks he is, and that he needs to cut out the stupid errors that he's been making every season since he's been here that cost us loads of points.

Agreed on all points.

Yep. There was a good spell of games last season where he cut out the daft mistakes and looked so much the better for it. Hopefully he can get back to that sort of form.

Absolutely remarkable how many people on here ( yes like you Sexual Ealing) are so anti freedom of speech and expression. My opinion,  is  as valid as yours and should not be dismissed with 'bollocks'.The current Chinese regime sounds far more like your natural environment.

People that are uncomfortable with Black people speaking out against racism are massive bigots. Any amount of "yeah, but China?" nonsense whataboutery doesn't change that.

The over analysis of Tyrone Mings is a little like how plane crashes are scrutinized. When they happen a lot of time is spent going through what happened and how terrible it is. All true. But then we forget the million flights that took off and landed safely and without incident between the the last crash and most recent one. They never get complimented or spoken about with the same energy.

For me, Mings is that player. He does so many good things over so many games. Not just his football, but the many other awesome things he does as a player, an on field leader and club ambassador. But on the odd occasion, and it is that rare, his howlers lead to goals. It’s a shame they get the attention they do when we don’t always acknowledge so much of the other good stuff.

It's a paradox. We visibly look worse when he doesn't play, less organised, less everything really, but he's the dictionary definition of 'got a rick in him'. I don't know how it happens even, because these errors are so basic and ludicrous almost, you don't know what exactly you can do to teach them out of him. It's just weird.

Mings is a good defender. I get the impression he really rates himself - but I suppose you've got to have a lot of self belief to compete at the very top.
It's a shame his place isn't under threat - he's a certain starter if he's fit - which might cause a bit of complacency in some players if you've got that status.

It’s incredibly rare. Count how many minutes he’s played for us and then count how many of those minutes represent a major mistake. I think you’ll find it’s a very, very low percentage.

Have only watched in real time and the replays shown during the match but I felt that, although there is no doubt that Mings' back pass was short and he should bear the main responsibility, Steer hesitated and back peddled where a more assertive goalkeeper like Martinez would probably have come for it and reached the ball first. I could be wrong but that was my immediate feeling.

Instead of breaking it down into nano seconds, try per game. There's loads.

I don't think even Martinez would have anticipated what a piss poor piece of play it was from Mings. Watch it again: https://www.skysports.com/football/chelsea-vs-aston-villa/report/446320

Ive just watched MOTD, firstly Isn Wright always has something good to say about Villa, even in defeat.
Second, Mings made an error no doubt, but watching it back Steer was really slow off the line, completely agree with your point, Martinez may well have got Mings out of jail or at least of made it more difficult for Kovacic whose not a natural goalscorer.
