Game seemed to pass him by a little today. Having said that if he’d buried his chance my stance would be somewhat different. Competition for places will do him the world of good.
It would be very interesting to see all our midfield options on absolute top form. I reckon Martinez, Torres, and Watkins are the only 3 players Emery sees as sure things on the team sheet. Captain or not.

Which is great as it shows our depth.
Hopefully we do well in multiple competitions this season and everyone gets a fair amount of playing time. It's highly unlikely we get a full season of 50 or more games without anyone being injured either. I've seen several media places talking about how many players we've brought in and do we now have too many, but only a few have acknowledged the fact we're looking to compete in the CL this season AND maintain our position in the Premier League. You need a big squad to do that, and the teams that do it consistently have quality players on the bench all the time.

In an era of 5 subs regularly being made, I think 90 minute games are probably a thing of the past for him now. Still expect him to start the majority of our matches next season and to continue to be a key player for us.I'm wondering where is he fitting into the team ? Especially bringing in two or three more signings and probably a couple of those being big name players.I tend to think he be club captain but not necessarily a guaranteed starter though will start initially I think once squad is finalised can see what the approach will be.

I think he plays better on the right, but Bailey was out there yesterday. I think it will be a lot harder to name our best eleven when everyone is fit. I was thinking yesterday that Kamara should play when he’s available but I’d not want to drop Tielemans or Onana.
