He looks like he has lost a  bit of weight.

Game seemed to pass him by a little today. Having said that if he’d buried his chance my stance would be somewhat different. Competition for places will do him the world of good.

It would be very interesting to see all our midfield options on absolute top form. I reckon Martinez, Torres, and Watkins are the only 3 players Emery sees as sure things on the team sheet. Captain or not.

I thought he played some great stuff in the first half. He was less influential the second, hence his replacement.

I know we will be rotating a lot anyway but one of my 'hot takes' before the season is that he will not be first choice come the second half of the season. Which is great as it shows our depth.

I think you could be right. He'll still have his part to play of course, but at the moment he doesn't seem to have a nailed on position.

I thought he had a slightly quieter game yesterday but was still very solid and steady. If he is not first choice all of the time this season, it shows how strong we are.

I think he plays better on the right, but Bailey was out there yesterday.

I think it will be a lot harder to name our best eleven when everyone is fit. I was thinking yesterday that Kamara should play when he’s available but I’d not want to drop Tielemans or Onana.

Hopefully we do well in multiple competitions this season and everyone gets a fair amount of playing time. It's highly unlikely we get a full season of 50 or more games without anyone being injured either. I've seen several media places talking about how many players we've brought in and do we now have too many, but only a few have acknowledged the fact we're looking to compete in the CL this season AND maintain our position in the Premier League. You need a big squad to do that, and the teams that do it consistently have quality players on the bench all the time.

When everybody's fit (yeah, I know) we'll have excellent players not even getting in the matchday squad. Yesterday we had Moreno, Barrenechea and Iling-Jr out of the 20. And we've got Mings and Kamara to return.

That's where, hopefully, having a couple of cup runs should keep most players happy, with the younger/newer faces happy to bide their time this season.

The likes of Digne, Moreno, Mings, McGinn and even Watkins are the wrong side of 25 and there's great opportunity for a lot of the young lads to become their replacements, if they're happy to learn under Emery for a season or two.

He does so much running off the ball, he's not a natural athlete given his size (apart from the elite-level arse) and he's 30 in October.

In an era of 5 subs regularly being made, I think 90 minute games are probably a thing of the past for him now.

Still expect him to start the majority of our matches next season and to continue to be a key player for us.
I'm wondering where is he fitting into the team ? Especially bringing in two or three more signings and probably a couple of those being big name players.
I tend to think he be club captain but not necessarily a guaranteed starter though will start initially
I think once squad is finalised can see what the approach will be.

I think he plays better on the right, but Bailey was out there yesterday.

Yes I think he starts again on the left for protection against Saka like it was to negate Bowen.
I actually would have Ramsey on the left in some matches ahead of McGinn
