I think most people who saw the game would have seen McGinn playing further up the pitch, that's all.

His passing was better, as well.

I thought it was a reasonable enough observation.

He has had a good haircut ( trying to keep it light and christmassy )  :)

Has he? He never grows it long which is just as well as I doubt it would suit him but I dunno what would constitute a good haircut. He's a meatball and that's that.

McGinn's discipline in recent seasons has bothered me, last 2 seasons in the league 8 yellows ,12 yellows earning him suspensions due to his collection of yellow cards.

Flagging up the concern again as he could potentially miss a match due to his accumulation of  yellow cards if he's booked again within the next two matches (Liverpool or Spurs) as he would have 5 for the season and he will be immediately subjected to a one-match suspension. He has up until the 19th game.

He's on a tightrope once more, endangering both himself and the team.
I sincerely hope that in the new he'll pick up less bookings when he's on the field.

Bailey and Ramsey are also on 4 yellow cards and would be suspended if they get booked before the Wolves match. however they don't concern me the way McGinn does. Though all 3 have picked up needless bookings McGinn consistently has done this now for a long while and any match can expect him to be close to getting booked which I don't think is great play by him

Footy, how is he endangering the team when he adds the square root of sod all?  Completely replaceable.  In fact, if we still have him as a first team regular next season, I will be really surprised.  Needs to massively kick on, or be replaced, if we want to progress as a football club.

This.

We'll be replacing him over the course of the next year, hopefully.

Or, the Emery treatment works and he kicks on (not in the way that worries Footy).

McGinn provided an excellent assist against the Spurs today, and I believe he is better suited to the left side than the right where he has been located in starting matches since world cup.
Today though it's unfortunate that he can't maintain his fitness and has been pulled up with his hamstring.
It was difficult to watch him try to outpace players.
He simply does not have that ability against top- higher tier players.

Credit to him for playing well and maintaining excellent discipline to avoid being booked in two tough matches.
I've noticed he's lost some weight and had his hair cut, which is an overall improvement. Sorry to those backside worshippers those days are over. Emery doesn't have overweight plodders in his squads.

I'm sure he was told to improve and did so as he's an example as Captain. There's nothing impressive as best asset being a big backside and Emery and I don't entertain such lower league style players at Villa.

Congratulations, McGinn you're learning it's not just hustle and bustle and that the game is football.
Gerrard was far too encouraging for this hard work and aggressive applications of getting stuck in, whereas Emery recognises that he also understands football and has introduced some football intelligence into McGinn!

McGinn did very well today, however that hamstring pull late on is a concern. He could miss the next 3 to 4 weeks..... hopefully it's not too serious.

I can confirm that John (man of the people) McGinn was on Ryanair flight 5291 to Dublin this afternoon. As I was boarding I spotted a guy wearing a light blue 'Represent' hoodie but didn't clock it was him till the Villa fan behind me tapped me on the shoulder and told me. I'm no Eastie. :(

Did he need to book two seats, one for each arse cheek?

With Ramsey back, I think he struggles to get back in the team.
