He is out of form and needs a break. It shouldn't be a big deal to rest a player.

Followed on from the weekend with another terrible performance last night, worst player on the pitch for me. Tim came on and looked class. I would love to see Tim and Bouba v Spammers!

What a mess. Was it worth all that mess with Mings to make him captain?
McGinn's stats are pretty damn good though, regardless of what people may feel they see. From one-versus-oneHe has scored 3 times after 38 match days in the season 2021/2022. This makes him the number 102 scorer in the Premier League so far. His conversion rate for shots to goals is 37.John McGinn has 4 assists after 38 match days in the season 2021/2022. With these statistics he ranks number 41 in the Premier League. He also has a total of 26 chances created. With these statistics he ranks number 36 in the Premier League. In season 2021/2022. He has won 57 aerial duels and 176 tackles. On top of this he made a total of 14 blocks. Based on these statistics after match day 38 he ranks on number 2 in the Premier League. He is a Midfielder - Right central in Aston Villa. Within his team of Aston Villa he is currently ranked 1 best player of his team based on our 1vs1 Index Aston Villa.Also.... McGinn won more tackles than any other Premier League player last season and won more fouls than anyone else bar Zaha. He was the 20th biggest threat going forwards too.In summary he's an all-round player with a great attitude.Part of the reason Mings lost it in my view is that he was top of the Yellow Card list last season (and his partner Konsa top of the Red Card list.)
Who was it said "there are lies, damned lies and statistics"?
Sometimes the ball is at his feet and he still doesn’t know where it is. Ends up bending over and going round in circles.
He seems to lack awareness and composure. Too often looks for the 'Hollywood' ball instead of simply retaining possession for the team. A captain needs to be a calming influence (at times) not just continually pump the ball forwards.
