When squad leaders like Mings are undermined, but the decisions aren’t getting the right results, things slide quickly.

In my opinion, not alone should John McGinn not be the captain of team, he should not be in our first eleven. He has done nothing for a long time to warrant automatic first team selection. He is just not good enough for us of we want to move on from lower mid table mediocrity.

Any reason we didnt hear from our new captain after yesterday's shambles?

I've only seen a Konsa interview on social media so far.

"Disappointed with today. We'll work hard an come back stronger. Support was great"

There you go. Copy and paste lads, throw in a few emojis too.

Tbf to McGinn I think he was probably Villas best outfield player against Bournemouth. He made attempts to fight for the cause but he be hard pushed to get even 6.5/10
The rest were lower!

Maybe not by Sky or the BBC.  I'd have thought the clubs own media people would have though, given his new status.  Perhaps he was too busy planning his dressing room pranks for the week.

Kamara was way ahead of everybody. SJM did indeed put in his usual shift but we'll never see the best of him whilst those around are passengers.

I think McGinn's reputation as a "character" who runs himself into the ground works in his favour. In an era of automaton footballers with exceptional fitness and technical levels, our Meatball stands-out as a proper throwback. The odd lovely goal and Hollywood pass that comes off keeps his credentials ticking-over. Unfortunately he is the passenger too often.

Wasn’t McGinn being touted as a possible target for  Sky’s favourite team 12 months ago for £50m? Now I read he’s not a PL player. He didn’t have the best season last season but he wasn’t the worst player. Seems as if he’s the latest target along with Gerrard, Coutinho and Watkins.

One trick pony using his considerable backside to try to roll the opposition then passes to no one? He lives by the fact some fanboys go on about his stats, which I think proves how weak the rest of our midfield is rather than how strong McGinn is. Should not have been made captain another SG mistake!

Don’t get me wrong, I get there’s a witch-hunt going on against the manager and some of the players after 1 game. He wasn’t a 1 trick pony during our first 2 seasons back in the PL. He isn’t a defensive midfielder or a ball player, he’s best in an attacking midfield role. If your not going to use him in that role then there’s no point playing him. That doesn’t make him a bad player.

McGinn was a passenger too. The amount of times he got caught in possession. Terrible passing from deep as per usual. Id prefer too if he stopped shooting from outside the box.
