I think his appointment as captain was just another fuck you to Tyrone Mings from Steven Gerrard.  It is all deeply personal now. All this bollocks by Gerrard saying Tyrone Mings has to "look him in the eye".

It is starting to have that somethin' ain't right feel about it.

It does and if it comes down to a popularity contest Gerrard may find he isn't as well liked at Villa as he might think he is.

He hasn’t got a lot (any) goodwill in the bank. Remember we’re lucky to have him if you believe the media hype.

I think there is still time for our manager to come good but first and foremost he has to stop being 'Stavie G' who walks on the waters of the Mairsey and start being the Manager of Aston Villa Football Club.  An historic, proud club in its own right, not a rung in the ladder.

If Gerrard doesn't think Mings delivers - and argument i can understand - then I have zero idea how he thinks McGinn delivers enough to warrant being made captain.

Off the pitch he seems a likeable clown and on the pitch he's been piss poor for at least two years.

Crystal Palace away and Man United away in the Cup are the last two good performances.

He's reliable in buying cheap free kicks and giving the ball away in dangerous areas. An absolute bargain, but we need so much better.

And yet, the manager made him captain.

Yes he did, God knows why. If you're keeping McGinn and not giving it Emi, it makes sense. But I don't think we should be keeping McGinn personally.

Does anyone else sense that all is not well in the squad, the body language speaks volumes, somehow i get the feeling the manager is not well liked.

There are quite a few players that are likely to be unhappy with him and it does not take long for a them and us situation to develop.

McGinn was very poor yesterday, and I saw no drive or aggression, or rallying of the players.

I think it was a lazy choice of captain from Gerrard, and one that could backfire. It may have already

When squad leaders Mings are undermined, but the decisions aren’t getting the right results things slide quickly.
