Whilst many may appreciate his anti-tory rants, half the country and a large part of our fanbase don't. I think you need someone 1. mostly starting games. 2. Leader on the pitch. 3. Not controversial. Keep the headlines for the football skills.Last good captain we had was probably Petrov. Not convinced McGinn should be a certain starter, but am hoping he is better with a more solid set of players behind him this season.Eloquent intelligent black man, speaks out against racism and at times this ultra right wing Tory party, and this is ‘divisive’. If Mings offends some people I’m glad, the worlds a better place for his sort of divisiveness. Tye captaincy i would guess is based on a number of factors and i would hope this is not one of them.

I do think Mings has been shit on to be honest, but I guess we will have to wait and see how McGinn takes to the role.

Agree with this, the country would be in a much better place with more people like Mings, and fewer idiots moaning about foreigners whilst dribbling into the Sun newspaper.

If you're looking for the obvious leader in the squad, it's Tyrone. Whatever you think of his playing ability, he has every attribute you'd want from a Captain both on and off the pitch. When we were on the Championship, I sat on the front row near the Holte vs Millwall at home and Mings didn't shut up the whole game. He's vocal, utterly professional and eloquent when he speaks. It does seem like an unnecessary kick in the teeth to me, he's done very little wrong yet being dropped by England and now very publicly stripped of the Villa captaincy. I'd say it's very likely that Chambers will partner Carlos at the back vs Bournemouth now. Mings and Konsa have been a great partnership for us for the most part. Football moves quickly sometimes.

I am a big fan of Mings and don’t think he should have had the armband taken off him.Looks to me like SG clearly doesn’t rate him.
'Ultra right wing' tory party?!? Jesus, how times and brains have changed. Its probably the most centre left the tories have ever been. I did a politics degree in late 80's and early 90's, now that was when the tories were right wing.
