I don't mind them, but not sure why we have chosen to play in their shirts this season. Hibs are a great bunch of lads, though, for their ability to get under the skin of the Ibrox Undead.

Anything that gets under the skin of the weegies of either persuasion is a good thing.

Erm, excuse me. I think the thread is wrongly titled, isn't his first name Super? Mods, please.

I assume you are overlooking the mighty Maryhill Magyars on purpose so as not to tar with the same brush.

One of the best debuts I've had the pleasure of witnessing. We will make a very healthy profit in the future! The fact he chose Villa over C*ltic is also a bonus!
What- you sold him already? Grab a prawn sandwich and celebrate the investment.

That was some debut for sure. Skill, work rate, passing and shooting throughout the whole game. I’m more excited about how his and Grealish’s inter play develops. There were sighs there on Saturday that it could become something special.

I'm glad he put in a performance like that, it backs up my thinking that him in a 3 with 2 from Hourihane, Thor, Doyle-Hayes, Lyden or Clarke could work and we wouldn't need a specific defensive midfielder. Then Grealish can have a fairly free role in front of them and not have to worry so much about  coming deep to get the ball.  We'd lose width but given Kodjia, Green and Adomah all naturally drift wide and woulld be the main options up front they'd give us a lot of the width we're losing.

Hopefully there's a Villa legend in the McGinn.

I was thinking on Saturday we could be more effective pulling Kodjia wide, then playing Jack as a False 9 with as few defensive responsibilities as possible. Would also allow McGinn and Hourihane to bomb on with BB sitting deeper. Green then provides the width on the opposite wing.

Doubt Bruceiola would go for it mind.

Don't sell prawn sandwiches in the lower Holte! Although it's something the catering dept. should look at!

That's exactly how I'd set the team up right now. Give Kodjia and Green licence to cut in as much as they want but to start from wider. None of our strikers (other than Davis when he's fit) are going to dominate a centre back and be that traditional target man so instead we'll look to put them in through the channels and test the defence with their mobility instead of their strength.

Always liked Hibs best in Scotland as it was too easy to go for Celtic. I’d love it if we adopted/nicked/shared Sunshine On Leith as an anthem (Liverpool and Celtic both do You’ll Never Walk Alone). It’s a great moving song and the words are very appropriate (in the main).

I don't think it would work Mal.  Leith is Leith.  We need something like Sunshine on Saltley or Helianthus in Harborne.

We could have a summer and a winter song. A Scorcher In Aston and Wet In Witton. Or maybe even Pissing Down In Perry Barr.

Our anthem should, undoubtedly, be Summer In Summer Lane.

Now if you’ve friends from the country for a day or two,
Take them round the town all the sights to view.
First in Cutler’s for a drink you’ll call, you show
Them the fountain and the Old Town Hall.
Then along Colmore Row, the car you can catch,
To see the Water Melons on the old Black Patch.
But there’s one sight you must not miss.
Before your friends say goodbye, just mention this.

You ought to see the palm trees swaying way down Summer Lane.
Every Saturday night there’s a jubilation
Hear the Birdies singing in The Salutation
Though there’s no snow in Snow Hill,
You’ve no cause to take the train.
To your southern home where the weather is warm
It’s always summer in Summer Lane

Now you keep on sighing for your Dad and Mam
Your Mason Dixie Line and your alabam.
You say you’ve heard your Tennesse call,
Yet you never saw Tennesse at all.
And your songs from Mandy Land have been done Brown
So let’s have a song about your home town.

You ought to see the palm trees swaying way down Summer Lane.
Every Saturday night there’s a jubilation
Hear the Birdies singing in The Salutation
Though there’s no snow in Snow Hill,
You’ve no cause to take the train.
To your southern home where the weather is warm
It’s always summer in Summer Lane

Only just caught the highlights, but he looked absolutely top drawer. He runs, he tackles, he passes, he wants the ball... and at last we have a player with real quality at set pieces.

Early days, but he seems like a great signing, and for sensible money too. Credit to whoever scouted him.

I see "a reported fee of £2.75m"

Aston Villa: John McGinn and Steve Bruce 'a match made in heaven' - Alan Stubbs

Do we know the fee for sure?

2.5m was what I heard. Regardless, he looks cheap at twice the the price.
