Does anyone seriously think that SG will leave him out?
I can't remember a game over last couple of seasons where he has been MOTM or left out or hooked unless injured or suspended.
I have nothing against him per se but I do consider his immovability from starting XI is causing our midfield to be imbalanced in every game.
To succeed I feel he needs to be benched so we can utilise the midfield staff we have to better effect.

McGinn is not a defensive midfielder and is not a ball player. He’s at his best when he’s got the licence to fly forward. Last season he was the victim of the turmoil when Grealish left and then Deano. If he’s played in his best position then he’ll be a huge asset for us again.

He's never been a huge asset for us going forwards. 3 goals a season is his lot, every year in the Premier league.

I wouldnt be shocked to see a surprise on the first day of the season, but think its more likely to be Mings benched for Chambers. I really can’t see both Mings and McGinn dropped straight away.

I’ve thought for a while (can’t mind if I’ve posted it) that I wouldn’t mind selling either of them, or Ollie, but I think it might be too much change for one summer. Plus I suspect they are leaders within the squad.

After Emi (GK) i bet his name is first on team sheet every week - and that is just not right with the mixture of midfielders / attackers we have now.

He simply is not good or consistent enough to warrant a guaranteed 1st team starting spot. Maybe a spot of bench time might get him back to the levels he once was

Agree with the second part, hope you are wrong on the first.

Announced as captain. From a seniority perspective makes some sense, but I'd expect  hope his position to be under threat.

I do like him, he's a great character, but he absolutely should not have a guaranteed starting spot, particularly if we are looking at bringing in another top class midfielder.

I did not expect to see that.   Think that confirms the two formations we will play are:  4-3-2-1 and 4-3-1-2

Cant see McGinn working in a 4-2-3-1, as he cant keep the ball for shit

Think Emi would be a better choice - as risk this shows you can under perform for large chunks of the season and its fine.

Martinez is vice captain, Ashley Young is club captain.
Wonder what this means for Mings?
