I’d agree regarding his passing but would say the same about most of our midfield.
I just think he’s not been used correctly at all this season. A high energy, attacking midfielder who does most of his best work in the final 3rd. It’s no surprise his goals tally hasn’t been great when he’s been asked to take up a mostly defensive position in midfield. If Gerrard doesn’t want him to play this role then that would be a shame as I see him as a great asset for us.

He hasn't been played in a defensive position though. Whenever we've lined up with a midfield 3, Luiz sits further back, with McGinn and Ramsey playing more advanced roles.

McGinn himself said he's not played enough football this season and hopes to play more next with Cup runs etc.

Not seen him say he's not played enough football this season and it would be pretty hard for him to have as apart from the games he was out with his injury he hardly missed a game. Was there one game where he was dropped?

I'd certainly like to see him involved in more games next season though his 46 games this season is no bad showing all considered. As the man said himself, “If I had the choice I would be playing more games. If you ask any of the Villa lads, the reason we’re not playing more games is because we haven’t done well as a team, so I want to be involved in finals and want to try and get into Europe.

“The more the merrier for me. If you’re playing all those games it means you’re in the starting team for one and certainly you’ve been successful. Hopefully next season it is not just 46 (games). I hope it’s more than that with semi-finals and finals.”

McGinn may be on the bench if we ever get into europe, with someone better in the starting line up

Think only time McGinn was subbed this season was at Newcastle.

He basically plays every minute of every league game he's available for so not sure what he's on about when he's played 10 + games for Scotland aswell.

I think a good barometer of our transfer window is does he go to rotation player next season or will he still play every single minute given we still need another CM so not to heap all pressure on Kamara to hit it off instantly.

Don't think he'll be sold anyway unless we get a ridiculous bid.

He means he wants us playing deeper into cup competitions and qualifying for Europe, not just settling for league games. The same as us.

You're not wrong:

"This news would come as a great piece of update for Sir Alex Ferguson,"

"Man United are looking into the market for reinforcements to improve their declined midfield"

You'd have to be mental to sell him for £30. Or even £30 million. Man U paid £76 million for Sancho, £35 million for Van Der Beek, £78 million for Maguire, £53 million for Fred and £50 million for Wan-Bissaka.

They're idiots. If he leaves, bleed them dry. £60 million before we even think about it.

£30m buys you Championship players these days. Not established, respected PL and international midfielders. He is at minimum £45m+ in today’s market.

Do we think Van Tagg with all his European market experience, has been leeping a close eye on mid table Aston Villas John McGinn all this time. Sane as Conte.
Its all a load of old bollix

Is that the same Conte who just bought a midfielder from mid table Brighton?

;-)
