Yep, that's why the tastiest firms across the water are called Soccer Moms. Terrifying.

In Shropshire they prefer to use 'Sis'.

Americans use Mom, Brits say Mum.

Assume it's derived from the German version; Mutter or Mutti. Otherwise Mom would make more sense.

So people using 'Mum' are essentially fith columnists? I thought so.

Mom was used over here long before there was any US influence.

That reminds me of what was probably the darkest joke I've ever heard on telly, from Frankie Boyle.

"I lost my virginity to my mom's best friend. My dad."

Having just got back from there yesterday, I I think I understand.

I see you're using the 'double eyes' code Dave. We've definitely got you.

:D.  Shropshire is a lovely county.  There are some beautiful houses, our lad lives in Newport which is not the worst place i was ever in.  I also like Shrewsbury,  myself and the wife spent last Sunday there, very picturesque.

I found it oppressively monoracial. See also Hereford which I thought was a horrible place.

I have never heard or read that word before - what does monoracial mean?

There was no such word when I was at Buckpool Comprehensive back in the late 70s

I went to a school with over 1000 pupils in Shrewsbury and the number of kids of colour was in single figures. That's what monoracial means.

Also, be careful not to autocorrect to monorail
