I see the huge queues at job centres by the thousands of people arriving in the country illigally each month / year taking good honest British peoples jobs. They are not here to take peoples jobs

I do see that they drain working people resources by putting nowhere as much back into society than they take. Unlike a lot of philanthropic billionaires who actually do put something back into the local areas they operate in.

I disagree but I think there needs to be a bit of clarity, there may be billionaires who are good people in many ways but it's impossible to generate anything like that amount of money without someone, somewhere being exploited.

If you could line the same lifestyle you enjoy currently with 1% of your wealth then, without question, you have too much money, especially living in a country where people are homeless, use food banks, etc

I don’t think we are disagreeing Paul, there’s about a billion different positions you can take on the mega wealthy and billionaires between “hang them from the lamposts” and “these people can do what they want”. I of course agree that they need to pay their fair share and that wealth taxes are a means of doing that but determining there lifestyle as some sort of government edict is just a step too far to my lily livered liberal persuasion I’m afraid. Different opinions are of course available.

This should probably be in off topic but H&V is so wonderfully fluid, following the profit and tax mitigation wherever it may flow. Full story here, but the key points are:

Next has announced that it will raise prices on some clothing to offset "an unusually high" £73m increase in staff wages and taxes.

The High Street retailer said that costs will grow due to measures announced in the autumn Budget, including higher National Insurance payments by employers as well as an increase in the National Living Wage.

Next expects profits to rise by 3.6% to more than £1bn next year.

To put it another way: "We don't want to pay more tax or give our low wage grunts a tiny raise. After all, we have to increase our enormous profits." Or, if you prefer, genius people with only philanthropy at heart being stomped on by the woke boot of communism.

Who is the 'we' to which you refer ? Next is a public company, which means the executives making these decisions don't necessarily own the company (the stockholders do) and the C-suite bear a fiduciary responsibility to the stockholders to maximise returns. If you own stocks and many people do, either directly or through pension funds, then you are one of the owners of that business. The whole system is corrupt and biased in favor of the wealthy (money talks) but in reality most people will still support businesses that exploit workers, eg. how many people have refused to buy Apple products, or Nike, or Microsoft, or from Amazon, etc, etc....The corruption relies on apathy and convenience (mine included) to subdue the injustice and sadly I don't see this changing in a hurry.

Just because  you dont agree with someone doesn't mean they are thick and think its outrageous your allowed to get away with that.

People really don't "support" exploitation, they get on with their lives in the best way they can. None of this profit-driven, growth-obsessive, tax-avoiding, fiduciary-convenience is inevitable. Accept it, love it, hate it or ignore it, but it's all a choice made way beyond the supposedly culpable consumer.

The reason for highlighting it is wealthy individuals and companies were not victims of envy or bullying at the hands of Reeves. Rather than risk only having £995m profit and stumping up an extra few pence an hour for their staff, Next has decided that £1.05bn is all and the government are to blame for them having to put up prices to survive. Which is their right to claim, but is bollocks nonetheless.
