Maybe. Or maybe this is one the exec team may well have run past Sawaris before putting it out. I would imagine his response was to empower his employees to do what they think is right to increase revenues to a level we have any chance of competing at. The owners are in this to be in the Champions League, not bounce back to mid table. They can't fund that themselves or they would be, as has been stated by players, Monchi and Videgamy in the last few weeks. They probably see this is a necessary evil.

There's a big difference between being at a game first hand to witness the latest dismal drubbing, and then to rage sack somebody afterwards; to telling your CEO that he needs to increase sales but not really being too involved with the details of how he does it.
Sawaris will know exactly what's going on, to try and defend him by saying he won't know is a bit naive

I hope I never have to say this ever again Coops, but I agree with you

I'd say Heck is a useful lightning rod for the criticism

Indeed.

Agreed, and he's so small no one will be able to hit him with a cabbage.

You think that they check ticket price decisions with the owners?
It’s just not how things work, they would expect Heck to do his job without causing a PR disaster.
Now they will be involved in the decision to act or not.
I doubt that the owners would want the Brand tarnished and I expect some sort of pull back.

If I was Heck and wanted to set high ticket prices only to have to run it by Sawiris, I’d probably resign.

You don’t hire good people and then tell them what to do. If you’re going to do that, you might as well hire dimwits at half the price.

Was it a rage sacking?  I would imagine it would have been discussed for a while at the club?  Surely Gerrard chose to get the bus back?  Hes hardly short a bob or two - sure he could have got an uber with some of his severance pay.

Who was the last manager to get sacked on the actual evening after a night game?
Yeah - but that doesn't mean that the rage influenced the decision.  It might have the excutation - it might not have been as graceful as it coudl have been - but I dont think that Nas would have seen us play shite, and then thought fuck this - fuck all our plans Im going to sack him now and worry about it tomorrow - It woudl have been 100% on the cards, and accepted that unless there was a significant improvement he was to be sacked.

What about if you hired someone and they then did something really fucking horrible to the whole customer base? Would you just let them get on with it? Think I’d get in touch and ask a question or two.

Of course, but that does not mean that the CL ticket pricing policy was something the owners would get involved in.
Now it’s blown up, they might.

No. I agree they’d have nothing to do with the intricacies of ticket pricing. But you’d have thought they’d have looked at his decisions in previous roles and the effect that had on customer relations, which might give them an idea on the direction of travel here.

Who knows, maybe it was his communication skills that shone through in the interview.

Agreed. And that’s why with all the stick Heck gets, and much of it justified when he fucks up, it’s naive to think the ownership isn’t aligned. This is as much on the owners as on Heck as they would have given him licence to make these decisions. As I’ve said in the past not everything he has done is bad. But the things he’s not done well stand out every bit as much if not more so. This is a huge black eye to club and every passing day someone else piles on. I’m amazed they not come out with a white flag already and some new pricing that is considerably lower. It can still be a premium. Just doesn’t have to be obnoxious.

I think we are agreeing mate.
I am sure they would have had some inkling concerning his character and ability to piss people off.
I don’t think they would expect this level of outrage which is as a result of multiple decisions.
Looking back it’s was inevitable because this is who he is.
I like the phrase , when someone keeps telling you what they are, it’s a good idea to believe them.
