My point was if the QE and Birmingham uni can in effect drag up Strichley, then why couldn’t a stadium with bars and restaurants along Aston uni (now with business school and medical school) drag up the around VP?  Their graduates have to live somewhere.

Not the graduates that spend the money. Its the £100k a year consultants…

Aston would take a lot of gentrification….

I’m taking about the comparison with kings Heath and stirtchley - these tend to be graduates areas.

Dunno where consultants live.  But I do know they earn more than £100k ….

If students are responsible for dragging up Stirchley and Cotteridge, why did they not bother doing Selly Oak first?

Stirchley's always been much, much nicer than Aston. It's surrounded by better areas for a start, like Edgbaston, Bournville and Moseley. Most of that area heading SW from the city centre between Bristol Road and Alcester Road is pretty decent. Aston is next to Nechells and Lozells, and is actually a fair way from Aston Uni which is 2 minutes from the city centre. I don't think that's a very good comparison at all. If Aston University was going to be the catalyst for regeneration in Aston itself, why hasn't it done so, it's been there as a university for the last 60 years.

Sorry, have I missed something?

With all this talk of gentrifying Aston, I was under the impression the area around Tottenham's stadium was still a shithole. I'm sure it was being talked about on this very thread a few days ago. Or did I imagine that?

I was with my son-in-law to be in the club level yesterday, he pays £4k for his season ticket there

He sounds like a keeper! 😉

On the contrary, you don't really want your daughter married to someone who ups and leaves at the first sign of adversity.

So if the main point of a new 60k stadium is to generate more money to spend on players - how does this work?  Surely the extra gate money would be needed to pay for the new stadium??

The cost of the stadium is outside ffp.

No, they can't.

Yes, they can. New station, one-way system. Special bus service. Pay staff more.

I think thats easier said then done. Who is going to pay the new stations? How you going to get the space? Council approval? The train companies?

Wheres the money going to come from to pay the staff?

So who who actually pays for the stadium?

They have massively developed the spurs area. They slowly shifting all the council tenants out. Its nowhere as shit as it use to be but traffic still horrific

Kings Norton Park is big enough.  And there’s a nice stream running on the edge of it.
