I wonder if Ulloa will be available on loan given his fallout with Raineri, and how they apparently don't want him to go to a PL club. He's nothing amazing, obviously, but he's the hardworking, robust type who would help Kodjia out by creating space for him while actually having a good goalscoring record in this division himself, and with a loan, you're not committing too much without seeing how the McCormack and RHM situations will work out in the coming months.

I suppose I'd take him on a permanent as well, but at the age of 30, anything over 3-4 million would be too much in my eyes.

It's going to be an interesting day at Villa Park. It's nice to reach the last day of the transfer window safe in the knowledge that we are out there trying to do business to strengthen areas of the team that require attention.

Previous last days have been a bit of a damp squib. Yes of course it can all go pear shaped but I really like the way that Round and Bruce have gone about things in this window.

For me, all the good work done in this window will be undone if Ayew goes and we're left with Kodjia and Gabby as the only strikers. Pay the money and get Hogan as he could be the difference.

I see the club have had a grand total of ZERO suitors for McCormack thus far. We can but hope there's gonna be somebody desperate enough to grab a bloated bit o' 'bargain' tat before the window slams firmly shut...

At 40k a week we have no chance

Or build bridges and get McCormack firing.  With our midfield now significantly stronger, he could be as prolific as Rhodes or Hogan. Although Brentford may take McCormack on loan as part of the Hogan deal.

and people on here were saying Dyche would be a good manager for us

ha ha, yes I was one of them

it does make you wonder

Who's to say we won't get good form out of Westwood like he has with Lowton?

Fresh challenge, less demanding environment and all that.

5 goals 11 assist in 4 1/2 seasons , he cant do any worse.
And half those assists came in his first season.
Has Westwood definitely gone? It will be hard to tell if he's still here or not. He has to be the most invisible player I've ever seen at the Villa! 😂

Did like this quote courtesy of Villa Report on Twitter via the Daily Hate:

Bruce: "Could I attract Bjarnason to the Championship? Luckily the big thing I've got up my sleeve is, we're Aston Villa" [daily mail] #avfc
I fucking love that quote!

If people think that Westwood is one of the worst players they have seen down Villa Park, then I have seen a lot worse than him and a few a still conning a living out of our club.... Gabby / Richards to name but a few.

We've had plenty of worse players than Westwood. The difference is, most of them play a handful of times before the manager sees them for their uselessness and they get disposed of (not in a Mafia sense).

Westwood is the epitome of mediocrity and yet must have played about five hundred games for us. Truly an indication of our pathetic midfield for the last half a decade.

Gabby and Richards are disgusting examples of footballers taking the piss, but at least at one time they offered something as footballers. While his general attitude (not missing training, always willing to run around and point a lot) can't be questioned, Westwood has been totally anonymous from day one, and was only lucky enough to pull on a Villa shirt because of Lerner and Lambert's conspiracy of shitness.

He's been a mainstay of some of the worst Villa teams in living memory, yet has never truly stood up and taken responsibility for that failure, always preferring to go through the motions instead of taking control and imposing himself on the pitch.

Ads listed his lack of abilities very succinctly above. They're comprehensive. If any of us failed so consistently at so many aspects at work, most of us would put a hand up and say, do you know what, I can't do this job. Westwood's been here for half a decade.

Westwood is a zero of a personality and player. A poster boy for can't-be-arsed-Villa. A whole bag o' zilch (although his bank statement would say otherwise). And if Burnley are actually willing to pay us for him, then we're genuinely getting something for nothing.

Don't clubs 'end their interest' when they know they have no chance of getting the player ?

A striker is a must today agreed villa first.  We pretty much have Kodjia and that's it now. The Gabby side show doesn't count, he can't score and never looks like doing so.  Even when he bulldozed the ball towards the goal last week Adomah had to make sure.

We could do with a couple of forwards still.  Winger come striker and out and out striker.

Too many midfielders now. Could also do with a centre back. Unbalanced transfer strategy you say?  ;-)

I just cannot understand the level of venom towards Westwood.  He was never going to be a tub thumping Roy Keane type player, so criticising him for not single handedly dragging the shittest team in recent memory up by the short and curlies is a bit unfair.  And despite his limitations, 5 managers (6 if you include Black) have picked him fairly consistently so must have thought he added something to the team.  (You will say they are all shit managers, but I suspect most are somewhat more experienced in football than most of us).  To add to that, Sean Dyche, one of the bright young managers widely considered to be doing a great job at Burnley, thinks he can add something to their squad.

I know his limitations, but the hate towards him far outweighs those and to think of the utter shit that has come on gone whilst he has been at the club the level of ire towards a hard working lad who has kept his head down and got on with his job as best as he could during very, very difficult times is frankly staggering.

Similar article online but it also adds that Hogan has said that he only wants to move to a Premier League club

Wigan's Yanic Wildschut has submitted a transfer request and is on Derby's radar. Bruce is a known admirer. Wildschut is very quick and not a bad finisher. Worth a bid?
