Well I picked exactly the same team as Tim Sherwood with the exception of Guzan for Given. The whole day was a major letdown.I for one did not expect such a poor performance. Only Given, Okore and Richardson did anything of note. What can Sherwood do?  Very little I think. Given and Agbonlahor are on big money contracts I should imagine. They are going to see them through. He doesn't seem too keen on foriegn players so we will be looking for cheap British talent preferably ones he has worked with.

Nothing will change I am afraid. Nothing at all.

With regards to the slightly tedious goalkeeper discussion we could have had David De Gea, Manuel Neur and Brad Guzan in goal today and we'd still have been hammered.

Admittedly we'd have been short in midfield with three keepers.

First time I have cracked a smile since kick off. very good.
To be fair, we looked pretty short in midfield with only one keeper.

I can't really put in to words how angry I am. But as someone who is very much a lover rather than fighter, I had to be physically restrained from knocking out a hipster Arsenal prick on the tube after the match.

I left in a huff on 76 minutes and lost my shit when I saw plenty of their fans trotting down Wembley Way at the same time so they didn't miss Britain's Got Talent.

The one sat opposite was just too much by the time I sat on the tube.

I would have picked the same team as Sherwood did, but in hindsight Hutton was a wrong move but totally understand why he did it. That said, I would have changed it when it was obvious we were being overrun and the left back was the outlet every time.

Just got back.

So galling that the tremendous effort to reach the final ends with such a lacklustre display.  Yes Arsenal are a better side, but we made it too easy for them and in truth they wont have had an easier game this season.

So galling that we allowed George Ramsays record to be equalled by Wenger with such ease.

Have to say the photos ive seen of our inept owner laughing and joking with Prince William while we were being taken apart haven't exactly thrilled me.

For the last time George Ramsay was the Club Secretary NOT the manager! The club committee picked the team up to the middle thirties!!
We didn't have a manager until Jimmy McMullen in1934..........and he got us relegated.

From BBC:

Tim Sherwood has just said:" Some of the boys have been told they will not be here next year and they can go and find other clubs."

So
The only positive from today then.

Sounds as though he is as miffed by today as we are.

He shouldn't be miffed. He's managed them for a while now. He set the team up.

Guzan's conceded 8 against Arsenal this season. He'd have let in a few today aswell.
He might have done, he might not have done. He might have dropped a bollock that Given didn't.

But I bet he wouldn't have let a bloke who is 5ft 6 win a header at the edge of our six-yard box.

I'm sorry, but to say that Given should/could have come to meet that cross is ridiculous.
I sort of agree. He's not good enough or commanding enough to come to meet that cross. He hasn't done for his whole career, so today wouldn't be the time for him to start.

The bloke on our bench though would have come for it and would probably have caught it comfortably.

That wasn't the point made though, was he at fault for our first three goals?
I personally think that Guzan wouldn't have conceded any of those three goals. I also think there isn't a save that Given made that he wouldn't also have made.

He may have ballsed up a kick or two or sent the ball out of play when Given didn't as that is his weakness.

Whoever the keeper was today I still think we would have lost as we were rubbish all over the pitch. But being rubbish all over the pitch doesn't excuse our goalkeeper (or more accurately our choice of goalkeeper) from conceding avoidable goals.

That's a bold statement to make though, how come Guzan conceded 8 in the previous two league games against Arsenal if he's capable of saving all their shots?

I'd have prefered Guzan to start today but I think in general terms the choice of keeper was a moot point.

I was in the club level seats. I had to step in when a load of bell-ends starting getting into stupid brummie monkey stuff. When I got involved they said 'oh but we went to Uni in Brum'.

They didn't say a word for the rest of the game. Nor did I.

Genuinely hurt. I thought we had a chance this year. We turned up and the team looked small time on the pitch.

Yeah, as I've said a good half-dozen times we'd have lost whoever we picked in goal.

But if we're criticising the team's performance, the keeper that we did pick doesn't get a free pass. Just like Guzan wouldn't have if he'd conceded avoidable goals today.

I've been totally numb standing on the train all the way back to Moor street but I'm starting to regain my senses a bit now.

Fuck it - I've been to an FA Cup final which most fans of other teams can only dream of and I had a fantastic day out at the green man, it's just a shame the football got in the way.

At the end of the day my team aren't good enough to win the cup. We will be one day. This still doesn't hurt as much as relegation would.

You need to get in touch with the BBC about their pre match coverage, then.

Just got back and can only say how absolutely disgraceful that was.
Every single one of them today, manager included, were an embarrassment to us.

No shots on goal in a cup final.
NO FUCKING SHOTS.

Someone rang me up about that. Dave or Laura Mansell (the Villa Archivist) will confirm they hadn't done their research properly.

But does it matter? We were dreadful.

Just got back and I'm gutted with our performance or lack of it. The gulf in class was massive and Tim has a big summer rebuilding the team if he's given the funds. I hope he starts on the defence as it has been severely lacking in quality for a while.

I remember watching Nigel Reo Coker play for us and wondering why it was so difficult for a professional footballer to pass to a player on the same side as them. Today our whole team failed to pass the ball in even the most simplest of ways. Today we were very, very poor and I can only think think that the players bottled it. At one point towards the end of the game I saw Cleverley pathetically pass the ball to an Arsenal player and the skip around in frustration. Desperately poor.
After today, so many players in our squad just need to be told to Fuck Off.
