I agree Monty.

Not scoring goals is pretty risky too!

True, but often under Sherwood Spurs would look a bit static and rigid, and reliant on the brilliance of players like Eriksen to get them out of a hole, while the gap between midfield and defence made them vulnerable to the counter. That's the risk with this type of 4-4-2, really - even though it tries to overload the oppo half of the pitch, you could end up with quite a rigid system with not much movement and easy marking.

Blimey, given the reaction on here, one bad result and we'll have a poll.

In fact, why not start one now?

Sherwood had an instant affect at Spurs when he took over from AVB. Let's hope he can do the same for Villa over the next 3 months and keep us up.

Can we nail this lie / misconception once and for all

He didn't turn around a failing Spurs team.

He took a squad that was worth several hundred million pounds, full of players still getting to know each other, and kept them precisely where he found them.

AVB

P 16
W 8
D 3
L 5
G 15
A 21
PTS 27

Sherwood

P 22
W 13
D 3
L 6
G 40
A 30
PTS 42

Take out the group game Europa guff and looking at league results only I would say Sherwood definitely had a better record and positive impact on Spurs than AVB did. More wins, more goals, better loss ratio, higher points ratio. I'd say it's unfair to overlook all that.

From when Sherwood took charge until the end of the season these were the amount of points picked up by their ''rivals''

Man City 54
Liverpool 51
Chelsea 49
Arsenal 44
Spurs 42
Everton 41
Man Utd 39

I think he did a decent job at spurs and certainly better than AVB did even though they eventually only moved up 1 extra place.

Overall summary then

We didn't want him

But

We get behind him

"We" isn't everyone here, I'm happy with him over a fair few of the other names put forward recently. Let's see.

I'm staggered that some people here thought we would be announcing Klinsmann or similar as our new manager. Given the position we're in and the lack of funds being made available and the fact that there are 13 games to go to avoid relegation. It was always extremely likely that we would focus on getting someone in who was available and looking to make a name for themselves.

The club gets sold to someone wealthy, who knows? But for now this is where we're at, we're not happy about it but we're 18th in the league, our stock is pretty low and until we get new owners, it might take someone like a Tim Sherwood with something to prove, to turn us around.

I think the reaction is harsh! We all wanted Lambert out we needed a man in quickly and there isn't a great deal out there

He is driven determined and he bring confidence to the team

I think it's about time the fans got behind the team now and stopped moaning

Up the villa

Some people are just miserable fuckers who will never be happy unless they get what they want....Leave them to wallow mate :) UTV

So it was ok to be negative and miserable a week ago on here but now that's an issue???

Yawn...... Seriously this forum is depressing. I'm usually quite a positive person but I find this forum poisonous sometimes. None of us are truly qualified to pass judgement on whats going on but we are entitled to have an opinion and I respect that.

He needs to wear a Villa scarf.

He might if they do an exquisitely designed one in cashmere costing a minimum of a monkey.

Ha ha, that's pretty laughable coming from you, bobo, seeing as your posts seem to alternate between whining about this forum and whining about the club.

They've all be shit so none of them are a loss to the club. Thats the only small mercy about going down, there isnt a single player at the club I'd keep.

Seriously I'm baffled as to why the guy would want to sign for us to be honest. We're a deserved favourite for the drop, it's not as if we've been unlucky and some team will be on the end of a hiding??? The weight of expectation on him will be incredible, I'm sorry but unless he has some getout clause his agent wants shooting!

We're a deserved favourite for the drop
We're not a favourite for relegation at all. Six teams have shorter odds than us and West Brom's odds are the same as ours.

If you don't score you don't stay up. We're on target for the worst ever scoring record in a season so I think the odds will drop the same speed as we will after the next three games.

Sounds like we can have no complaints but when your season aims are staying up and bragging rights its a disappointing performance.

Not as funny as your life seems to revolve around collating my comments and others for an online forum ;)

"life revolving around collating your comments" = 30 seconds glancing at your posting history after remember your boring "you're all wankers here" routine that somehow didn't get you banned at the time.

If it depresses / annoys you so much, why bother?

I don't usually as my posts reflect. Seriously though nearly 50000 posts, don't you have anything more productive to do?
