Quote from: Toronto Villa on January 12, 2015, 10:58:29 AMMore than anything Gil needs to be allowed to remain the player we are buying. That his job is to get the ball from the likes of Sanchez and run at the defence. No defender likes that, and have that on both sides of the pitch it generally leads to good things. The defence if only asked to defend is more than good enough for this league. It's when they (that is the full backs esp.) are asked to provide the width that we look all over the place. If he ends up being amazing he'll end up going to a wealthier club that Valencia anyway. It'll be something like this:Scenario 1: player is utterly brilliant and has half of Europe after him. Goes to a Real Madrid or Man City type team for far more than 12 million.
Is a buy back option even legal?
Quote from: pauliewalnuts on January 11, 2015, 07:30:38 PMThis worries me a little.David Cartlidge@davidjacaFurther details on Carles Gil deal. Valencia retains an option to buyback of around €12m, as well as 10% of any future sale. If true, and it ever gets to that point he'll have done really well with us. Hopefully by that stage we'll have identified the next Gil.

Quote from: saunders_heroes on January 12, 2015, 12:09:38 PMIs a buy back option even legal?I think it happens a bit more on the continent. As an example Real Madrid sold Dani Carvajal to Leverkeusen for 5m euros, with the option to buy him back anytime they wanted for 6.5m. Which they did and he's now back at Madrid.

If they have a buy-back option, then we wouldn't be able to sell him on for more money without giving them the right to exercise their option first.
