Bloody hell he it that volley lovely in the first leg.

we were stood at the other end and I have to be honest it was hard to see. I never thought Prenton Park was great for visibility, but few us really knew how critical that goal would become. It was just so depressing as an evening that it was hard to accept that goal as being the way back. But what a massive goal it proved to be, and that second leg was a game for the ages.

Great memories.

Super build up for the Utd goal

RIP Dalian

1992-93 was full of classic goals. Kevin Richardson's long range stunner that went in off the underside of the bar vs Oxford in the Cup, Garry Parker's two vs Sheff United, Houghton lobbing the Man City keeper, Richardson lobbing the Sheff United keeper at home after a lovely throughball from Neil Cox, Big Cyrille chipping the Forest keeper. Just great great goals.
Yorke's goal against Sheffield Wednesday at home  was absolutely fabulous. 16 passes and a great finish, what days they were x
The best thing about that goal was it came straight from the kick off, the first time Wednesday touched the ball was to pick it up out the holte end net, I don't think I've seen a better home season than that one in terms of goals.

That Yorke goal was divine. The volume in the Holte just got louder and louder with each pass as if we all know the goal was coming. I still get annoyed we never won the league that year

Haven't had a chance to post before now but this is terrible news. For two-three years Atkinson played in  and was an outstanding contributor in one of my favourite and sublime Villa teams.
They were brilliant to watch. RIP Dalian.

Hopefully we can start singing Dalians original song. 'Atkinson Ma Lord' sounded strange on Tuesday night.

Sung yesterday as well. Derby fans applauded it, bless their bumpkin little hearts.

Real Sociedad just did their own tribute, in the ninth minute.

I have not heard Karren Brady commiserate BFR on the loss of his son yet.

A genuine dictionary definition of the phrase 'maverick'

But when he was on...

Dalian was a brilliantly talented player who was tearing the league up in the winter of 1992. There's little doubt that had he stayed fit (along with Froggy) we would have won it.

Sadly, he will go down as a player who ultimately wasted his great talent, despite the highlights.

What happened to him was an absolute outrage!

An appropriate, measured tribute to Dalian in the new edition of WSC by some bloke who I think posts on here from time-to-time.

Had any more light been shed regarding the circumstances of his death?
