I remember going to Blackburn in the spring of 92/3, evening game I think. Dalian played, I think his first game back after injury, but was clearly miles off the pace and full fitness. Think we lost 3-0. At 0-0 seeing that Dalian was clearly a passenger, I said to my mate we are stuffed this season, such was his importance at that time

Quite right NS, he missed a sitter from about two yards at nil nil as well. After saying that he was a major contributor to stopping Manure winning the treble in 94, RIP Dalian

We were only talking recently about just how good, and underrated Dalian Atkinson was.
A top player and really saddened by this news today

Tranmere was the last great terrace mental in this country.

Amazing that was. It lasted about 30 minutes. There was a guy just standing on one of the barriers for the whole of extra time

I assume they'll mention it over the tannoy and show goals on the big screen.

A minute's silence halted not by the referee's whistle but footage and audio of either his goal at Wimbledon or Wembley on the big screens would be a nice touch.

Applause on 10th minute?

Very sad news indeed. On hearing the news and after the initial inevitable feelings of disbelief my thoughts went to that home tie against Tranmere. I was standing on the left side of the Holte when Dalley crossed it in with 87 minutes gone ... I don't remember where I ended up but I do remember utter utter joy.

Many other goals and memories of course including one of the best overs of H and V ever ( cartoon with Dalian and Deno sitting on top of the world)

Thank you Dalian.

Only just got home and heard. Shocked. I've always been moved when at a game and a minutes silence/applause is held for former players but these are usually players I've never seen play. Tomorrow night will be really emotional as I have so many happy memories home and away watching Dalian. Very sad news.

And that photo with the chap n brolly, as said before, is what we're all about! RIP Dalian mate.

I went to work in the Far East in November '91 and live TV games were few and far between in those days. I did not return to the UK untill 2000 and therefore missed seeing live his great times at Villa - my loss.

Terrible news, RIP.
Will be remembered as a tremendous player when on form, as well as a great character.

I remember him hitting the ball over the crossbar against Coventry I think and realising we'd let the PL slip by the end of the game. Up until then I thought we were going to win it. He was an immense powerful player who was so unpredictably brilliant that you felt he could score from anywhere. My happiest times as a Villa supporter.

Two officers couldn't taser four or five times, unless they've got four or five tasers. I'd take such reports with a big pinch.

This report?

Don't want to start a political debate but media saying he died are surely wrong, he was killed wasn't he? RIP Dalian.

You don't want to start a 'political debate' but you want us to decide if he died (he did, it appears) or if he was killed (he was, it appears)?

What?

I think we get his drift...
