I agree with you about Mclaren

I still can't believe that people think that having AM as manager is going to attract players to us

I cant see what the fuss is about.

People care about the Club and chose to demonstrate

It wont do a lot of good but it shows they care

Do they really care about the club, or is it knee-jerk "He's one of Them"?

Sorry Dave but are you towing party lines here with that patronising statement or is that a genuine question?  Villa fans deserve more credit than that, the media will spin that angle all day long but you must be aware that a lot of us just don't think he is good enough REGARDLESS of who he managed before.

It's not patronising, and it doesn't fit the definition of the word. Remind me what the grafitti at Bodymoor said.

Mclaren would have warranted the same treatment

500 people would not have turned up at Villa Park to sing Shit on the City if McClaren had been appointed.

Watching those arse clowns on SSN is the most ashamed I have been to be a villa fan in my life. I am still cringing when I think about it.

If people feel that strongly about the club and want to voices their concerns (albeit to a board who couldn't care less) what are the other options??

We're entitled not to want him due to his record, but the protest yesterday said more to me about his Blues connections.  They didn;t protest because we're getting a shit manager, they protested because they're getting a shit Blues manager.

Agree. It was way over the top. Why is AM Bluenose Scum? He's a Scot who managed Rangers and the National team - he's not a Blues fan!

I'm more embarrased by the board even considering appointing McLeish. I think the reaction is understandable. What if Man U had appointed Joe Royle after he took Citeh down? Or Liverpool appointed Mike Walker after he nearly took Everton down? Or Stoke appoint whoever the hell took Port Vale down most recently? It's a shit appointment made far, far worse by where he's been before.

It's all a bit chicken and egg, really.

If he hadn't been a Blues manager but had that shit record, there wouldn't have been so many people protesting. But then again, if he was a former Blues manager who had an excellent record there, there also wouldn't have been many people protesting.

If he'd been the latter, I'd personally be gloatingly happy we'd stolen him from them.

Let's find out then shall we?  I propose a poll that offers the following options:

I don't want AM cos he's ex Blues.

I don't want AM cos I don't think he's good enough.

I want AM as manager.

Can we have that poll please Dave?

Do you really think people will answer honestly?

No other manager would have provoked that protest last night?

The Blues part of it just exacerbates the drawbacks with him as a top flight manager. No there wouldn't have been a protest to the same scale last night, but I bet the general mood of the support would have been the same.

For the record I think he is a decent guy, but do I want him as our next manager, no chance.

Oh Randy, what have you done?!

Personally if they really wanted to make an impact every one of them should have marched in to the ticket office and cancelled their season ticket.

How many of them did that? Not that many I'll bet.

Watching the protest images is just a shambles and a down-right fucking embarrasment.

I'm not a fan of his managerial ways, tactics, etc., but for the love of God give him a chance. I'm sure the board know the risks and if, after 3 games, he's still shit then I'm sure they'll kick him up the arse and out the door.

And as said; where's all this 'bluenose scum' shit come from? Yes, he's worked for Blues, but he doesn't support them. He's fucking Scottish.

Wrong question really.

People will not want him due to his record, myself being one of them, but the strength of how deep that feeling goes is due to the Blues thing.

Can you honestly say that had he last job been West Ham they'd have that many people there?

If the porn barons or Carson Yeung were to take over at Villa Park tomorrow would any protests be because they were ex-Blues or because they share a shit record of achievement with Alex McLeish?
