The thing is, people aren't happy and want some way to vent that.  If a protest is what they feel is the best thing then go for it.  There's a lot of very condescending posts on this thread making out that anyone who wants to protest or who thinks it's worth doing is embarrassing and worse than the geordies.

Will it do any good, probably not but if 50, 100 or 10000 people think it's worth doing to show we're not impressed then let them get on with it without treating them like naughty children.

So, your reasons for protesting are to vent your spleen and to show the club that you're not impressed?

An alternative and adult strategy might be to forget your spleen and grow a pair. Then we could be sure that you're not all naughty children. Oh, and I think you will find that the club probably already have an inkling that you're not impressed.

Can we change the thread title to 'Drama Queens of the World - Unite!'.

Tossers.

Tossers are people who go on message boards and insult other fans by calling them tossers for exercising their democratic right to protest.

Unbelievable.   :o

daft to protest before the season's started - he's not going to get sacked before he's played a game and it will probably make Lerner dig his heels in more .just wait for the performances and the league placing and the rest will follow.,

So you believe we're both tossers? You're half right. If you can't see the embarrassment a protest will bring I can only imagine too much tossing has made you blind.

That's it lads, stick it to the man.  It's just like Egypt all over again.  Bloody leaders eh!

Shame we're not Dundee United, they could call it the Arab summer.

I have printed off a picture of the "creosote/bedsheet" protest banner from Monday and used some Blutac to stick it to the back of my swivel chair.

Take that General!

If you don't like it send an e mail- protesting makes you look like stupid fools who the whole football world will laugh at and it makes Aston villa fans look bloody ridiculous ,none of us had mcleish as our 1st choice but it's randys call so let's get on and support our club rather than look like sulky little brats!

The soul of any football club belongs to the fans and if they are not happy they are entitled to show dissent in whatever way they feel appropriate. Blind loyalty will get you nowhere and only serves to massage the ego of the owners and operators of football clubs, further bolstering their position of superiority.

I won't attend any protest, I'm a bit too old and a bit too cynical, but if fans want to voice their dissatisfaction who am I to criticise?

Rather a backlash than a shrug of the shoulders and meek acceptance or worse still, a sickly hero worship and veneration of the ordinary that Newcastle used to specialise in.

Best of luck to those who make the effort to turn up for the protest. The other thing i would say is it must take a absolute knobhead to know one! Likewise a tosser to know one.

I hope we tie it up and get mcleish in and unveiled today long before these idiots turn up to protest and make themselves look ridiculous.

Any protest is a bit silly in my view. The thing that the owners have got wrong more than anything is being too open and swayed too much by what we want. If they think he is the right man, and I don't believe he is, its their call.
