I find it quite surreal that given our current league position were loaning out our strikers to a team that is way above us.Really hope we can turn this season around starting tomorrow

On his day, he could be a very good player. But, a legend? No.

Still, we live in times when any warbling slapper is called a diva.

He was a good lad...for a while. Good luck to him at Stoke. I hope they have the John Carew from two years ago, not the one from two weeks ago.

Let's hope he puts some past the 'other teams'.

I bet Rory Delap will be salivating at the thought of having Jones AND Carew in the box for his throw-ins.
I bet Carew will be chuffed that he won't have to run far for the ball.

He just won't be running at people like Fuller or Tuncay do.

He wont be doing much running full stop.

That's what is worrying me, if so he won't fit in, but in Pulis we trust!

Don't be too quick with the farewells: Carew probably thinks he's signed for a stroke.

He'll still score goals but he's a strange one. When he does run about its kind of like he's doing it to show that he does have a work ethic rather than with any expectation that he will actually get a tackle in.

I hope he does well.

Now that really is funny.

He mormally starts well at a new club but has been pretty hopeless this season.

He can score goals but is to work ethic, what Dave Woodhall is to good looking.

Carew and Stoke are a marriage made in heaven,
he will suit there style of play perfectly, with all those throw ins from Delap etc
good move for him, and Stoke i feel

Glad he's gone there not Albion. Speaking of Albion, my favourite Carew performance was at the Hawthorns when we beat them 2-1 and he scored one, made the other, hit the post twice, won everything in the air and generally battered them.

My Albion supporting bro-in-law still goes on about how good he was that day, he'll be gutted he's not joined them!

Anyone know if he'll be allowed to play against us?

It is the ideal striker for their system, fair play. He doesn't fit with the direction Houlier wants to go at all though.

The inconsistency of Carew is the biggest factor of where we are now. Goals win games and if he was not in the mood, he was a waste of space .......

Hey guys and gals,

Stokie here in peace.

I've seen bits of Carew before but just thought I'd check in and get a more educated appraisal of the guy. What can we expect, what we can't expect etc?

Having had a look at his scoring record it looks impressive however I can't say I have ever been overly impressed whenever I have seen him.

What's happening at your end too? Never thought you'd struggle in all honesty. Hopefully you'll turn it around soon.

All the best for the rest of the season.

WD
