Unplayable on his day, unwatchable when it wasn't his day.

A good player who gave us some good times. I'd like to wish him all the best in his future endeavours apart from when they are against us.

if he's not allowed to play for Stoke against us, then my guess would be that he'll find one more big pay day on the continent before hanging it up. We may never play against him, which given what he is capable when he's motivated is probably a good thing.

Good luck John, never forget the 5 - 1 battering we gave the blues and after the game you came out the ground towards your car in your villa tracksuit holding your 5 fingers up on your one hand and 1 finger on your other hand then standing their so we could take photos. The noses at work were well pissed for weeks after!!!

Surprised bunny hasn't been on from Stoke , Carew will probably do ok there and get on the end of delaps throws , I'd still expect him to move abroad in the summer though.

Been with us the longest of any of his previous clubs and think he loved every minute of it until Houllier come in. Loved seeing him bully some if the best defenders in the league, shame that it has all petered out.

If he ever comes to the villa again I'll definitely get my tits out for Carew.

And nothing to do with Carew, but can I ask why some people in the Lower Holte always applaud the oppositions keeper? It gets right on my tits! We should be giving him loads of abuse and making him feel unwelcome. Understand when David James or Tommy Sorensen get a good reception but for anybody else, it just baffles me.

Did a job for a while, but I do not see how "I don't like the manager" is an acceptable excuse for loping around the pitch like you don't give a shit, taking extended Christmas holidays, randomly declaring yourself unfit when you fancy a break, and generally doing a good impression of someone who doesn't give a shit that the club is heading for the bottom of the table.

That's a modern footballer for you though. As soon as they don't like something they throw their toys out of their pram.

Rooney and Tevez have done it this season, one to get a new deal and the other just to kick up a fuss to make him feel wanted. But it was obvious that Carew wanted to go as soon as Houllier come in.

wonder if he'll wake up one day and realise he wasted his career. If he'd had the right application, and less of the mysterious injuries he could have played at the very top. I'm not surprised GH has moved him on, or indeed when he was at lyon because at the end of the day despite his goals he's just too unreliable .

Very difficult not to be fond of the fella. For a long time it seemed he loved playing for us and loved the fans too. The 07/08 season was great, in no small part thanks to him. And the last two seasons, the good have far outweighed the bad when it comes to Carew, even if - easy to say in hindsight, but something started to change after the strip bar incident. Or maybe it was just that back injury that kept him out for a while. He started to lose the consistency that he was impressively building up in his first year at the club. Maybe, the nomadic soul that he is, he just got restless and a wee bit lazy.

It's a measure of how much his star has fallen since MON left that ''Heskey or Carew?'' was a complete no-brainer before. It still is now, sadly for John the answer is Emile every time.

Still don't understand what we might get out of this...Carew is still a top, top player on his day and loaning him out to one of our competitors doesn't make any sense to me at all.
OK, if he's leaving in the summer, but leave him here in case we need him, one goal could keep us up !
Sad the way it's ended, Carew will always be remembered in claret and blue, as everyone else has mentioned, unplayable on his day, but frustratingly inconsistent.
Good luck big man.

We are getting rid of £60.000 pw of the wage bill and a totally disinterested player who may have been underminding the manager.......good riddance

Why aren't the likes of Celtic and Rangers interested /

I'd prefer to see JC loaned outside the Premier

I like big John but even at his best he was a one in four or five games player, now it's more like one in 24 or 25. I still think he could do a job given a run in the team but it seems clear he doesn't get on with Houllier and can't be arsed to even try.   In which case he's no use to us and better if he's off the wage bill.

Well overall I think he's been good for us, so good luck to him. Also if he can get some goals for Stoke against our relegation rivals that'd be great.

He's been a good player for us overall. Some great goals and great rapport with the majority of fans. I can't argue with those who comments on his various off days, but he had some bloody good ones as well. I think he will do well for Stoke City.
