Is there a good place to get training plans Jon, I want to try to get a sub hour 10K. I know that's not exactly setting the world on fire, but you've got to start somewhere!

Before I do have you a treadmill or access to one? And what about cross training? Do you want pure running or some strength stuff in there too? You don’t need to.

Yep we've got a treadmill. It mostly gets used to hang clothes on to dry, but I think it still works! Some strength stuff would be cracking too.

Thanks mate, the plan is superb, really easy to understand and looks challenging but achievable which is exactly what I need.

Could I be incredibly cheeky please ? I can do a sub 50 minute 10k and would like to build to a half and would be targeting 1hr 45. Is the plan you wrote for your daughter a generic one I can get from anywhere or - even better - would you be willing to share it ? Apologies if I've asked too much and feel free to just ignore.

I think the 10K one Jon wrote for me would do for you, just run a bit faster!

How very dare you.

Strictly speaking I'm a triathlon coach, BTF Qualified, I have my own coaching practice & business (it's a side gig not my main gig) I've a couple of generic plans I can share or I can write a bespoke programme for you for a fee following an online interview.

How fast do you want to go?

I'm 58. 59 in December. So a sub 50 minute 10k is my limit. I would like to do a half though and feel I could do 1.45 or thereabouts. At this age I'm not worth the investment in an interview and all that but would happily pay you for something that could help me extend my current running. Or you could just suggest I go a bit further each time until I get there ?!!

1:45 is very achievable at your age (I'm 57 and run a 1:38) I'll have a look at a couple of the generic plans I have, PM me your email address and I'll shoot something over.

I'm struggling to motivate myself back to run again.  Throughout the last 12-15 months I've dropped right off from doing 3 x 5KM runs a week for about a year following getting there with couch to 5K.  I never got to the point where I could say I really enjoyed it, or relished going out, apart from bizzarrely, running abroad on holiday early first thing when it was warm!  I did have a good sense of achievement for getting to that stage though.

I do go about one a week now (at best) and seem to struggle/be plataeu'd at about 3.5km, with a stop half way for a breather, but I just stop, don't walk.  I really would like to get back to the point I was at, but motivation is low and with the weather turning and dark night looming I know it will be a drag to get myself out there.  I'm thinking I might jump back in to C25K again, maybe at week 6 because I'm happy enough running for ten mins, to see if that gives me the push I need to get back up to 5K and then hopefully can stay there again!!

Any thoughts/other tips on motivation (my increasing gut should be the only one I need really!!)
