All this “not wanting to sell to rivals” is just made up click-bait from podcast weirdos.

Beginning of the unraveling of the Monchi era for me this.  Bit dramatic but then I’m Ill and we have a squad as balanced as a broken trampoline.
we haven't signed many first team players in recent windows.

I assume that's it finished with trying to sign Felix? He's turned us down 3 times I think now? He hasn't cut it in the Premier League at Chelsea. He looks too lightweight to me so good that he's going to Milan.
I don’t think he’s had much say in where he ends up in the last 2 transfer windows by all accounts. He’s agent in Jorge Mendes and sounds like he’s being used as a pawn to the benefit of himself and his client. Also, it appears to be widely reported that Chelsea see us a threat to CL qualification and don’t want to deal with us, so nothing to do with Felix himself at least on the surface.
That being the case why did we spend so much time on trying to get Dessai

Just catching up on the day. So we are likely to go into the last 16 champions league ties, our biggest games for many years, with one centre half finding his way back from 15 months out and struggling with two games per week, one with a metatarsal injury that are notoriously difficult to treat and accurately predict a return to full fitness, and one out of form and in need of some time out. Great.

I believe this to be a fair summary.

Is the plan to not worry about defending and just outscore teams ala Kevin Keegan's Newcastle Utd 1993.

I'd say it's as likely they thought they'd get more cash out of Spurs and tried to force that one through instead. Player gets little or no say.

I’ve just had an afternoon nap so trying to play catch up.

Is Disasi now the reincarnation of Paul McGrath, I could have sworn he was useless the other day, reading the experts views on here.

I’m sure all we need to do is refresh the filters on centre halves, and we can go again.

I don’t think anyone said Disasi was but it’s a body in a position where we need options. Connor Coady and Harry Maguire have been suggested, get ‘em in I say!!

They’ve let travis Patterson go now as well.

A couple of seasons ago we had only Watkins as a striker & an unknown Duran. We got away with that.

We now have one fit centre half, who is also our go to cover for right back, who's also injured. I'd play Digne at right back, it's got to be better than playing someone with little or no experience.

Hopefully Mings is back very soon. I understand why we don't want to panic buy someone we then end up stuck with but we have left ourselves very vulnerable.

I'd play Garcia at RB, or Bogarde.

Imagine at the start of the window being told the answer to the question "can we get better cover than Carlos?" was to get rid and not replace him.

I agree right back was probably more of a priority at the start of the window and we've signed another project player there not ready to step up. And the lack of centre backs means we can't even play Konsa there when Cash has one of his regular injuries.

Carlos blew hot and cold but to sell without an imminent replacement is amateur.

Carlos was shit so we needed to sell him. Foyth, not good enough, don't get him. Disasi, oh Chelsea fans think he's shit, don't get him. Bade, never heard of him. ....

However, now we're desperate, let's get Maguire, Coady, play a kid etc etc.

Monchi is on the way out now, Emery hasn't a clue, the club are negligent, it's a disaster.

I mean what would actually make people happy?

We shouldn't have sold Carlos without a replacement. Simple as that really.
