This has been a dark week in the history of this proud, historic club. Some of you know that my doctoral thesis was on the genocide of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Native American tribes in what has become known as the Sand Creek Massacre. This transfer window is worse than that.

You wouldn't be the first to say that. Some even trip up on formatting. Give it another go and you can get that PhD.

I mean what would actually make people happy?

In order of preference:

Buying a shit-hot centre-back to replace Carlos
Loaning a shit-hot centre-back to replace Carlos
Loaning a capable placeholder centre-back to replace Carlos until we can do it properly in the summer
Not selling Carlos
Loaning someone familiar with the centre-back position to replace Carlos in the squad until we can do it properly in the summer
Selling Carlos and not bringing anyone in at all

I agree right back was probably more of a priority at the start of the window and we've signed another project player there not ready to step up. And the lack of centre backs means we can't even play Konsa there when Cash has one of his regular injuries.

Assume you're talking about Garcia there, who I thought looked alright in his brief appearance in an entirely makeshift defense which also left our midfield out of shape.
He was alright going forward but had a bit of a mare defensively.

Surprised at Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon to Second Division Burnley.

Thought a few Prem sides might be all over that, particularly at the price.

John Egan to Hull and back as well. There was a time not long back I thought he'd do a decent job for us.

Has Onana ever played more than 3 matches without getting injured?
FIFY.

Hasn't he gone there on loan? He wasn't getting in the Sporting team, technically he's not the best, scores a few goals but nothing special. An Ollie Watkins tribute act.

At this late stage, we need a center half who is prepared to be 4th choice when everyone else is fit. Preferably, with Premier League experience.

That's why the name Conor Coady popped up.

Never seen Marcus Edwards play but I've read several articles about how good he is. That's quite the step down. Not as good as the hype suggested then?

I can understand the poker stance, the laws of probability that we've had our injury run and once we're past Spurs we'll have a full stack in midfield with meathead and Onana battle fit, and Barkley on route/bench, so in a worse case scenario, we will miss our best player in his best position but we'd have plenty of options and could make do for a game/two with Kamara/Bogarde there, rather than spunking, by all accounts 6/7 million plus wages on someone who's 5th choice at Chelsea..and providing a bit more financial insurance for them if they miss the champs league again, which would be most unfortunate. I caveat all of that with I hope Emery has his target goggles on the FA cup and we're lucky with Ming's/Konsa fitness.

We're obviously still in a PSR squeeze and the outlays matter, and we've taken a hopefully sustainable gamble that Rashford and Asensio tip up and hit the ground running. I suspect Badé was the one we identified as the right deal, good enough to put big pressure on Ming's/Konsa at the right price/wages and in all probability we've have another 2/3 in mind, but we can't get them now or they're too expensive in Jan..so we'll wait...we're starting to shift players at above market rate, and  with the lifted income we should be in a better position to recruit/deal in the summer. I think there's going to be a big re-build job then. We're already shipping out some of the projects with a view to shifting them. Valid hardnosed strategy but I believe it's a mistake in Kosta, but we've effectively replaced him with another project in Garcia and we've got Ozcan in sometime in the next week or so, as he is apparently awaiting a work permit.

However, not sure why we've loaned out all the promising defenders, Kosta, Swinkels now and Feeney's doing well at Shrewsbury.....wonder if we'll have him back, 19 and he's done extremely well, especially physically according to my Shrews mate.

Has Onana ever played centre back?

Not sure he could concentrate properly at centre half. Has the physical attributes but doesn't sense danger in midfield that well. Might be ok with the game in front of him.

A bit of ITK, use this information wisely.

Tyrone was in Worcester yesterday afternoon getting a tattoo done, so that must mean he is nearing full fitness.

Never had a tattoo myself but I assume you need to pass a full medical beforehand.

And someone happy enough not to play in the CL. This is literally the type of signing it would be at this point. Someone to cover 4 or 5 games, if even.

Why didn’t we just lie to Bade and tell him he would have loads of game time?

Yeah, I'm not sure why such extreme positions are expressed as if there is no middle ground.
