Didn't Rooney or was his record just the goals? With the age he started at and no big injuries, it is a surprise if he hasn't.

I think loads of the 2000 - 2015 lot or so ended up on between 80-100 and only Cole, Rooney and Beckham got to 100.

Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Ferdinand, Neville, Owen etc.

Edit
Spoiler for Hiden:
- or maybe not, having now Googled it.

Not looking at your spoiler but would guess Gerrard out of that lot, he started very young. Maybe Gary Neville, too. Can't imagine Owen has that many due to being injured then largely not being quite the same player after he left Liverpool. One in the eighties that played loads was Kenny Sansom.

Thanks, on a similar note, I think SJM is only a handful of caps away from overtaking Mellberg as our most capped player (based on caps earned when at Villa).

aren't there loads more England games nowadays so achieving 100 caps is easier . The likes of Emlyn Hughes, Kenny Sansom, Des Walker  would have easily achieved it back in the day if there was so many international fixtures piled up

Hughes was dropped for 2 years by Don Revie and England didn’t qualify for 2 world cups in the 70’s. I Never liked him

I resent the fact that Peter Shilton is the most capped England player.  He was number 1 for England for far too long as it was clear in his latter years and before that he was well past it. Also, he was and still is a massive twat. Could Kane still pass him? 99 caps, and 66 goals so far. It would be fitting if he did.  Trouble is, he's starting to look less useful of late than he once was. It might be only a blip.

Agree. He was better on Question of Sport. Still racked up a lot of caps .

And didn’t he call his son Emlyn and his daughter Emma-Lynne?
