You have to start somewhere!

You could spend £100m on adverting Villa shirts this summer, but you're not going to sell enough to cover it.

These things take time. We will sell more shirts this year than last, due to a number of things, and that will enable them to push on and do more next year and keep growing.

Football isn't like a new fizzy drink, a good ad campaign won't make people try being a Villa fan.

They're saving Tom and Wills for next year's launch. In the meantime, they've have to make do with 5.5m views on the AVFC and Sabbath accounts on X.

Did you know on views they count every time some one views it but it may be the same person.
Basically I have analysed the video and watched it 8 times.
I think a lot of people have watched it more than once.

Well I never, relieved now that I put 5.5m views rather than 5.5m people.

My shirt has arrived, including CL patch.  The colour really is lovely, although it is a very dark claret.  I seem to recall under Lerner that we went through an exercise of establishing the 'correct' colour pallet, but this is darker than any I can recall.  It's fine by me, I prefer it.

I got the fan shirt, and it seems good quality, with a bit of texture in the material and not too shiny.  But the badge looks very cheap, not the design which is what it is, but the quality.  I was expecting it to be embroidered, but it's just it's more like a printed cheap material.  There's no detail on the lion.

The sizing is good, if anything a touch generous.

Overall, my favourite shirt for some time.

Mine arrived this morning. I got the cheaper version.

It's quite thin overall but the Champs League logo (which I only got to balance out the advertising on the other sleeve), the adidas logo & the crest are all reasonable quality. The 150 thing on the back, the Betano logo & the Trade Logo on the sleeve feel a bit cheap.

But overall, it looks lovely though.

My missus strictly forbids me from wearing a Villa shirt. Not even the white ‘82 one. But I am tempted. It’s a lovely thing.

Why?

Reasons of taste, I'd imagine. There's something seriously dysfunctional about grown men in football shirts.
Just a shirt. Couldn’t give a flying fuck what people say about or think about what I wear.

Only t-shirt my missus hated was my man on toilet downloading shit joke t-shirt.

Rather than opening a separate topic, I'd want to share some views on the video of the kit launch. Now for a couple things

I enjoy Adidas as a brand and after seeing the Adidas commercials, I find it missed opportunity that the creative and commercial teams did not collaborate with Aston Villa on this and it very much seems like some ideas on a story board from a few at the club.

First, I believe Prince William and Tom Hanks could have been involved. Tom Hanks is an actor, and Prince William is world-famous. In addition, the plot is not particularly obvious. An older lady sitting at the bus stop wearing Adidas boots made no sense. I would have preferred a narrative than a collection of different scenes. I appreciate the Club tried something though I don't think it was a Champions League level storyboard. I've had a couple of great ideas myself in how to improve the launch video.

There were certain elements that were unclear and the edit I think was only satisfactory. Clearly there are some budget constraints. The rock stars appear to have been the most expense. This had to be Champions League level locations and stars to be increasing global brand awareness. It also needs to give a strong appeal and look to reach all genders, all ethnicity, all ages.

If I may I indulge and give example to the unclear narrative Why weren't they all wearing the new Goal Keeper Villa shirts during the Emi Martinez Masterclass lessons? Who were they? Why dont they have maybe some ex pros, like Agbonlahor or McGrath in that scene or one of the aged Rockstars, the older lady from the bus stop or the young girl with the 'can I have new shirt' scene
I think Martinez could have played that part there as the instructor turning round to reveal the kit and then asking them to change into it

If not, Tom Hanks would have been an excellent choice for the instructor masterclass part.
I also would have directed Prince William to appear in the dressing room scene in full kit, after a video call with Unai Emery.
Ah fuck, who said his name three times?

Mate the future King ain’t gonna appear in an addidas advert. It was a fun launch video, not Citizen Kane.

Got mine today, the cheaper one because I'm a fat bloke. It has a proper shade of claret and not the almost purple shite we've put up with for years. Looks smart too, not garish. Edit - wish they did a long-sleeve version.

Nice one, Stu. I'm sure you look very dapper in it too. The long sleeve is a must. Never really thought about it but have shirt manufacturers phased them out?

No, Adidas do them for Celtic, Germany etc. I'd be much more likely to buy a long sleeved version of our shirts.

I think they went years ago, yeah. I can't remember the last time Villa offered a long sleeve jersey although I'm of an age where I haven't bothered looking for a long time but felt I really wanted this one, 150th year etc. This kit with the Adidas stripes down a long sleeve would look on point.

Also an option to get the sponsor of the shirt, yeah. I think plenty of third party places can do this for you though.
