My Mrs comes from a football supporting family, so she's not bothered. However, I don't like to, unless I'm playing or going to the match...

Until now, now I think there will be something debonair about a 50+ overweight bloke wearing a bit of polyester for the summer.

No. Surely you don't wear the shirt, Ads? Not a man in your profession. I'd be telling the beak all about it if I were opposing you.

No.

Although, my Mrs really (inexplicably) likes tennis and F1. So I suppose if she wanted to go out in a Castrol GTX jacket, an Andy Murray / Castore collaboration polo shirt, or an imitation team Red Bull team shirt, I'd put my foot down.

Talking of tennis, anyone else really hate that chant tennis fans do, "Let's go Andy, let's go!"? (Substitute first name of any player for Andy).

It so cringey. It's even worse when they do the mexican wave. Strawberries and cream wankers.

Not totally sure of the Murray chant, but it sounds a lot of like an old US one that they use for everything. Which makes it much, much worse.

Rather than opening a separate topic, I'd want to share some views on the video of the kit launch. Now for a couple things

I enjoy Adidas as a brand and after seeing the Adidas commercials, I find it missed opportunity that the creative and commercial teams did not collaborate with Aston Villa on this and it very much seems like some ideas on a story board from a few at the club.

First, I believe Prince William and Tom Hanks could have been involved. Tom Hanks is an actor, and Prince William is world-famous. In addition, the plot is not particularly obvious. An older lady sitting at the bus stop wearing Adidas boots made no sense. I would have preferred a narrative than a collection of different scenes. I appreciate the Club tried something though I don't think it was a Champions League level storyboard. I've had a couple of great ideas myself in how to improve the launch video.

There were certain elements that were unclear and the edit I think was only satisfactory. Clearly there are some budget constraints. The rock stars appear to have been the most expense. This had to be Champions League level locations and stars to be increasing global brand awareness. It also needs to give a strong appeal and look to reach all genders, all ethnicity, all ages.

If I may I indulge and give example to the unclear narrative Why weren't they all wearing the new Goal Keeper Villa shirts during the Emi Martinez Masterclass lessons? Who were they? Why dont they have maybe some ex pros, like Agbonlahor or McGrath in that scene or one of the aged Rockstars, the older lady from the bus stop or the young girl with the 'can I have new shirt' scene
I think Martinez could have played that part there as the instructor turning round to reveal the kit and then asking them to change into it

If not, Tom Hanks would have been an excellent choice for the instructor masterclass part.
I also would have directed Prince William to appear in the dressing room scene in full kit, after a video call with Unai Emery.

I haven't bought a Villa shirt since 2008. I think I'll get this one though for 5 a-side.

You think Tom Hanks, one of the most expensive and lauded people in Hollywood, would have wanted anything to do with a kit launch video?

And the royals don't get involved in advertising anything.

They're saving Tom and Wills for next year's launch. In the meantime, they've have to make do with 5.5m views on the AVFC and Sabbath accounts on X.

Did you know on views they count every time some one views it but it may be the same person.
Basically I have analysed the video and watched it 8 times.
I think a lot of people have watched it more than once.

I understand that in his time with the 76ers, Chris Heck often built up relations with the local artist and music communities and used these to gain awareness and cement the team as a key part of the city's culture.

So I think we will see more of this going forward, but mostly with people connected to the area, rather than people who have 'adopted' Villa.

That is encouraging from traditional and local heritage side of things.
I guess felt underwhelmed having seen Adidas commercials and also Heck making noises about being a global brand.

Isn't there some kind of US kit launch too? Maybe there'll be something more globally reaching done for that.
