Unless we enter the Conference League qualifying round, seeding is largely irrelevant, now. And even if we did, we'd likely be seeded based on average performance by English clubs, anyway.

I know seeding is irrelevant when you draw from each pot now, but still fun to see is progress up the pots. And we are also beating the association average anyway so no extra from that.

Edit: The massive advantage to CL points was in League placements. That is over now and the reason we shot up so high with 3 English clubs in the top 10 of the CL. That was 31.75 points. Now there is not much in it with next round bonuses of 1.5, 1.0 and 0.5 per competition and 2 per win, 1 per draw across all competitions divided by the amount of teams per association. So if a German club wins the 8 matches, and progresses to the final it equates to 2.625 points. Not all the countries / teams can do that so even a full capitulation next round by England would be put us close to 5th qualification.

Average is based on last five years. Our two years of performances and three years of zero points won't be better than England's five year average. Still, it can't hurt, like you say.

That isn't true.

Englands Co-efficent is 21.324
Aston Villa's co-efficient is 39.750

The average is used if a club has never entered, otherwise it is the total of the points earned over the last 5 years.

There's so many websites on this, but I'm struggling to see how 0+0+0+Conference Semi+Champions League last 16 can be better than a five year average, where is the definitive link, please?

Thanks. So our five year total is 39.75. That's an average over five years of 7.95, way behind England's average, as I suspected.

But the seeding is done on points total over the 5 years with the country average only used to bring up teams lower then that or new into Europe. Hence why that table has England at at 85 but us at 59. All the lower German teams are at joint 104th because their 5 year full total is less then their country average.

We would be below the average, so our seeding would be based on that.

That's not how it works though. Individual Club coefficients are never expressed as averages always as totals for the purposes of seeding and pots. Or am I misunderstanding your point?

There is NO averaging of the five years though for seeding for club points. It is a total over the 5 years OR the association average over 5 years to determine positions in the table.

Quite possibly I'm misunderstanding my point, it's hurting my brain. So I will concede before I make matters worse. 🙂

I lure them in with UEFA coefficient sweet talk then, when they're getting comfortable, scrape all the butter of their sandwiches to seal the deal.
