Quote from: lovejoy on October 25, 2024, 10:17:20 AMIt seems like you can post things on this thread which when they turn out to be wrong you can claim you were only joking. So I will do that as necessary as we look to progress in this competition. So just to be clear, you believe that cd (I assume it was him) has actually booked a hotel for the European Super Cup Final next year in a city which still hasn't been announced?

Quote from: lovejoy on October 25, 2024, 10:17:20 AMI often find the people who post giddy optimism are the same ones who get angry and abusive when things don't go swimmingly. How do you live like that?At least they have the giddy highs to go along with the doom. Living in eternal pessimism doesn’t strike me as a particularly healthy mindset. Although it does mean you’re never let down. Deep.

I was thinking the same. Liverpool have not had the implosion I thought they would have from Klopp to Slot so we will have to hope either Arsenal implode instead with their self discipline or losing Rodri for a season starts affecting Citeh on the long term. Otherwise that is the top three. I still think we are best of the rest but that depends on managing the squad better this season which we seem to be doing. Chelsea could easily self-sabotage or if they lose Palmer for any length of time........And Spurs will Spurs it again.
I agree but being realistic and celebrating actual success is more balanced I find. Also I try an never get too down if we lose, it is meant to be a distraction from life's real travails.
In the same article, Benteke named his debut goal at VP as his fave ever. I always thought he missed a trick with that one. From memory, he/someone else lobbed the Swansea goalie, and it was a simple tap-in for the Beast. He had time though, to stop the ball on the line, bend down and do a piss-taking header with the ball on the ground, and just nudge it over the line with his noggin - that thing your Dad/bigger boys would do when you were a kid and you were being taught a footballing lesson. I don't think I've seen this done in a professional game, so maybe it's against the laws but it would have cemented Benteke as our most cult figure since we had a Budgie in goal.
